  1. That my Mate Gilly's. On Eblag currently. Nice bike just needs a little detailing
  2. The alter the cr between runs depending on how they are running. They have a selection if different length rods to alter the cr. If the big end bearing is being squeezed out the side of the rod, fit a shorter rod. If the big end bearing is hardly marked, fit a longer rod. When engines are torn down between each run, adjusting the cr to tune the motor is simpler than changing the fuelling.
  3. They are both 10w viscosity when hot. Modern synthetic oils are fine to 130c. it does sound like you need more cooling as you say. Stock oil cooled motors struggle when ragged hard. Fans do bugger all above 20mph. only useful in traffic jams.
  4. I think I mentioned it to Spike in amongst talking about other stuff. Didn't really bother me. Originally those fairings weren't fully enclosed underneath. I think Spike has adapted a Tz under fairing to make it comply to ACU regs.
  5. Those belly pans Spike makes never fit. 750 and 1100 bottom ends are the same. I've fitted a few. I widen the belly pan at the bottom 50mm and cut holes for the ignition and starter cover.
  6. It's not a laughing matter to us sufferers... Windage is the drag on the crankshaft as it spins through a heavy mist of oil in the crank case. A lot of oil clings to the rough surfaces of the crank webs which adds a lot of weight and inertia a 10,000rpm. Superfinishing the crank and rods mean less oil clings to the crank. It also means the crank has less drag going through the oil mist. Superfinishing can give decent power gains here. Same principle with the gears, possible down side, is that the gears rely on the oil mist for lubrication.
  7. The parts are put in a big tub with a ceramic slurry and agitated and tumbled for 6-10 hrs. The process is used quite widely in motorsport. I'm not convinced by it. I think there are benefits to it, such as fatigue life and oil windage. We had a huge number of race car gear ratios superfinished a few years back, to try and make them last longer and reduce drag. Drag reduction was impossible to quantify, gear life if anything was reduced. I surmised like you that they was no surface for the oil film to cling to so wear was accelerated.
  8. No need for an ignitech. the stock cdi will be fine with the right crank trigger.
  9. The inlet ports are lower on the 1200 heads than on the 750 heads, so there won't be a lot of difference in the carb heights.
  10. I 've seen a lot of bandit gearboxes where 3rd and 4th gears are pitted on the teeth. Gsxrs don t seem to suffer as badly. Fit a Nova 6 speed box if you have deep pockets
  11. Used Lipo batteries on race cars running total lost electronics Never had an issue running them flat though I suspect they had some electronics in them that stopped them from getting damaged.
  12. Blocked pilot jets or circuit. strip carbs and get ultra sonic cleaned.
  13. This. Put the Dremel back in the drawer.
  14. Use the original rubbers for the head. the bandit carbs should fit them. Just making the inlet ports bigger isn't necessarily going to improve things.
  15. All my 7/11s have run 750cdi, they'll be fine. The engines run out of puff well before you hit the limiter.
  16. They'll have to pixelate your face out in the article Rob.
  17. Yep, some of the li-ion batteries are tiny, and easily capable of firing up an 1100 oil boiler.
  18. Always run 180/60s on mine. The chain just brushes the tyre, the torque arm needed a tweek too. Never had an issue though.
  19. Leave the injection cams in, they are probably racier than the carbed ones . In addition to the bits you've mentioned you'll need to fit a carbed crank trigger and pick-up. I guess either the 600 or 750 one will work. The carb settings may need a little tweak to suit the injection cams. Shouldn't be a big deal to get it all working.
  20. Who are you guys using to balance your cranks? I've seen too many fucked up by so call experts over the years.
  21. That's the bike I was talking about. @YoshiJohnnyAre we talking about the same bike? Paul had so many tucked away.
  22. The one thats still got the slabbie swing arm pivot? I always thought that was an NWS.
