nightrider Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Happily traded some Flying H crap for some superior parts and lumps from the local Flying H guy. One of the lumps was marked as an 89 GSX750. On closer inspection it has a DOT head. Hurray I says. However there isn't any gray paint under the black paint. Is there such a thing as a Teapot DOT? Quote
Captain Chaos Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 yes, 1st gen T-pot 750 (till '98) has a Dothead. Basically the same engine as the GSX-R 750 J/K. Clutch operation on right side means GSX-R, on left side means Teapot. 1 Quote
Neill666 Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 I have a spare teapot 750 motor and yup it has a dot head Quote
nightrider Posted August 28, 2016 Author Posted August 28, 2016 (edited) Thanks m8s! Been looking forever for one of these. I was very eager to make that trade Three heads, 5 stators w/ rotors and three air boxes for a DOT engine, a 750es engine, 750w rear wheel, 1150es front suspension, an 1100e head w/ cams and valves. Not too shabby...... Edited August 28, 2016 by nightrider 1 Quote
Swirl Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 I've got one sat on the floor in the workshop waiting to go in my GS 750 1 Quote
SiBag Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Iv got a teapot DOT head on my Bandit 1200 Harris build. 3 Quote
Joebloggs Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Is the DOT head only on the short stroke engines? Quote
Swiss Toni Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Are Teapot and GSXR Dot Head valve sizes the same? And...are the inlet tracts on both inclined the same, or Teapot less so? Quote

Swirl Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 would you see an improvement with a teapot dot head a bandit 12 lump, or is it only the gsxr dot head any good Quote

Teapot cams are a softer profile. Quote

My teapot DOT is going on my K4 Bandit. Incidentally, it seems even teapot cams are higher lift than what the Mk2 Bandit uses. Quote
Fula28 Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 I've fitted a rodger. Uppteron dot head to b12 bottom end, with Gsxr k cams made 148bhp. With 94lbs torque! Lively beast for feck all cash, I skimmed the dot head by 0.005" too with dailed in cams made huge punch. You will love it cheap hp. 1 Quote

Thinking of going DOT head on a rebuild GSXr1100 engine to go in a Mag 4 frame but a bit worried the angle of the DOT inlet and position of carbs will not fit. Did yours fit OK ? Do you have a build thread on here for your bike ? Had a look but couldn't find anything. cheers Quote
