Guest YoshiJohnny Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Having had zero dealings with GSXR400s does anyone know if a 750K engine will fit in a 400 chassis? cheers YJ Quote
dupersunc Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 It's been done. Requires the lower frame rails modifying to move them further apart to clear the sump. I've always wanted to see if an Srad lump would fit. I know the down draught head could be an issue. 1 Quote

If a hon#a can do it Suzuki must be better 1 Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Have done a cbr 4/6 and seen a gsxr 4/7, there was a bo,ke who i raced against inthe NHCC has a 400 with a 900 fire bucket engine in it, unfortunately it never fan right but looked scary.... there used to be a load of infomation on 400 greybike but couknt find it now???? the 4/6 was brillant but tiny the gsxr had a water 750 cooled motor if i remember correctly Quote
Captain Chaos Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 there was a 750-engined GSX-R400 in a Streetfighters mag in the '90s. Will try to find it when at home in the weekend. Quote
Leblowski Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 I want that for my impulse but the frame isnt wide enough sadly Quote

There is a 400 RRSP2 on Eblag and I know where there is an RRK 750 engine.. I was just kinda wondering... Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 The Ho***a was actually very straight forward, very small amount of frame chopping and hot metal gluing, the biggest problem was airbox.. I will see if my log in for the 400 grey bike forum still works and see f I can find the 4/7 gsxr.. Quote
Oilyspanner Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Sounds like fun - although I reckon checking the valve clearances would make the 1100 engine in a 750J/K frame check-up look like an absolute breeze ! - still nothing ventured and all that ..... I don't think the reverse engineered version, the 400 in an 1100 frame would catch on though - there was a 250 version too - the 250/1100 - for those who really like cog swapping ! Quote
vizman Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 cross customs? cross brothers? i'm sure they were running big bore 750's in 400 chassis Quote

vizman Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 ahhh.....maybe they ran big bore 400's.....but i'm sure they put a 750 in a 400.... @zedheadcan you remember? Quote
zedhead Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Indeed I can remember! Rare, I know... The Cross Bros still run big bore 400s in the 400 chassis, up at around 500cc now. The bike in the pics above is a 1200 oil boiler in a 750 water-cooled frame ;-) Quote

dupersunc Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 There's a RRK chassis on book face at the moment... Quote
Markz9 Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 is that the one in finland or Sweden he wants 4000 euro Quote
Dezza Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 FZR600 engine in the FZR400 frame seems like a common build. The later 600 engines are pretty powerful and the 400 chassis has a reputation for great handling and build quality. They are absolutely tiny though, more Angel Nieto than Terry Rymer. Quote
Captain Chaos Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 early fireblade engine fits nicely in FZR400. But this is OSS, let's not discuss inferior shit. 1 Quote
clivegto Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 There was a thread on a gsxr 4/7 on the temp sight from oz or may be it was the old site. I have mate that built a 4/9 blade goes like fook & confuses a lot of people that don't know. Quote
vizman Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 sure this is an oilbioler rammed in a 4 5 Quote
Wagola Posted July 19, 2020 Posted July 19, 2020 Hi, was there a conclusion to this post ? will a 600 or 750 motor fit into a 400 frame ? I have a gsxr400 gk73a that has been sat a while and needs to be recommissioned, so was thinking that maybe a bigger motor would be a good bet at this time. cheers. Quote
banoffee Posted July 19, 2020 Posted July 19, 2020 Anything will fit some some modification. Get it started and document it in the project section. Quote
