Dezza
I am going to buy a new 19 row 330 mm wide cooler (AN-10). As we know, generic items are freely available on the interwebs for about 40 quid a pop, whereas something like a HEL works out at double that. (Earls and it's just fucking silly money so no point in discussing that.) Has anyone any direct experience in quality differences between generic and branded coolers? Or do HEL just get the 40 quid ones in bulk, put a sticker on, and then offload them to mugs like me for a massive profit margin? Quote Link to comment
R1guy
I too would be interested in this. I just bought a £40 one.... Quote Link to comment

I,ve used ting tong ones with no issues ...on bikes cars ,excavators and other mobile plant . Well they don't make them themselves or do they ? 1 Quote Link to comment
MeanBean49
Personally I always use JJC race and rally, there APS coolers are as good quality as earls and HEL but loads cheaper. Quote Link to comment
fatblokeonbandit
this ones been there 9 years now, cant remember the make but it was very cheap as I wouldn't pay £250 for a Hel kit. 1 Quote Link to comment
Dezza
Looks like I'll go with a 40 quid job. The last oil cooler I bought was about 30 years back and it's still going strong. I suspect that taking care to mount the things correctly and to route the pipes well have more of an effect on the likelihood of failure than the brand of cooler. 2 Quote Link to comment
wraith
+1 with the cheep one, it's only a name you pay the large extra for, if you really need with the money you save get a sticker 2 Quote Link to comment

Yebbut the sticker makes it work twice as good, hence the price hike 1 Quote Link to comment
jonny1bump
For cooling efficiency cannot beat curved proved by radtec when they did work for Triumph. Just adding my 10 pence. Not saying anything wrong with items shown here before someone gets on there highly strung high horse. Edited February 2, 2019 by jonny1bump 2 Quote Link to comment

CockneyRick
Had the Cheeepies on the SF, Yoshi, Efe, Drag bike & whatever comes next. Not a single problem. Only issue i had was the cheep AN10 connector to it that blew off on shakedown & dumped 3L of oil over the garage floor Quote Link to comment

Cobby
Anyone interested in a 13 row cooler there's a couple of brand new ones for sale on sphock for £10 each (not me selling them) Quote Link to comment
Dezza
Got a 40 quid 19 row job coming soon and a new 10 row 115mm Mocal for 36 quid (head cooler going in seat unit) but that will need a couple of -8 adaptors. What's sphock? Something from Star Trek? Quote Link to comment

Allspeeds
I’ve bought two coolers on eblag new, one for a head cooler one for an oil cooler both about £40 delivered look nice quality and I’ve bought mogul and hel before only slip up I made is that there AN10 so I’ve bought some AN8 adaptors of torques Quote Link to comment
Allspeeds
Only thing I’m tempted to do before fitting is flush them out to clear any manufacturing debris as the Chinese quality control might vary Quote Link to comment
clivegto
I had problems with them busting on the Scratcher (turbo) went through about 3. Lot of vibrations through the braced 1986 gsxr 750 repaired frame. Solved problem by using Suzuki oil cooler rubber mounts rather than home made or direct bolt to frame at top mount like a lot of the after market ones. Gixer1460
Old style Mini Exhaust Bobbins work for me - stud at each end and rubber joining them. 2 Quote Link to comment
Dezza
I use the old fashioned ones as used on about 99 different Yamaha models from the 1960s to the 1990s, the ones with a metal inner sleeve. You can get replicas in bulk on ebays, which is nice, as I always thought Yamaha did a smashing grommet Quote Link to comment
