  1. looking good it makes a big difference to an old bike with the better wheels and forks.
  2. the 1100 engine i just put in my 750 was a tad smokey when out on the road, i know its been stood for a long time and its a low mileage engine. after a good few runs out and a dam good thrashing it seems to of settled down and doesn't smoke anymore not running an engine for long periods is not good for them.
  3. have you checked/cleaned the gear lever pivot point ? also pull the front sprocket cover off and make sure the shaft hole is clear.
  4. it wont rev past 3000 because it hasn't got an airbox
  5. yes, CV carbs are pretty sensitive to air filter/air box changes. put the box back on and bang a new filter in and see how it runs.
  6. compresion test is a lot better, your carbs need a good clean, pay extra attention to the float needle valve as it sounds like its leaking. and maybe a new air filter.
  7. just like old ladies, they tent to leak with age
  8. that'll keep you busy for a while
  9. i would say it could be a pilot jet blocked or the float valve is leaking. but i would investigate the compression isue as well, 100 psi is not the best reading did you have the throttle wide open when you did the test ? and the engine should be up to temp if possible.
  10. i was wondering the same thing ?
  11. happy days
  12. you could try and wrap some tape round the filters just for a test and see if it runs better. it will confirm if its running lean.
  13. if you are getting a pulse at the ign coils then it sounds like the pulse coil is sending a signal to the CDI and then on to the ignition coils !!!! have you tried new plugs ?
  14. a good bit of improvising
  15. yeah me too, if he had them fitted and running
  16. some people do that to restrict the air flow to something near the air box, cheaper than a jet kit.
  17. thanks for that, so its best to start with the rear lower mounting point.
  18. bloody hell wraith you've let me down their mate i think the GS frame is a tad longer than the GSX, probably because the kickstart.
  19. any body put a 16 valve 750 engine in a 1978 gs 750 frame ? i was just wondering about the engine mounts arangement.
  20. i don't see why not wraith ? they worked well on my B12 engine.
  21. you ride it
  22. problem with a full on resto is you don't want to ride it in case it rains and gets dirty
  23. i think 3.5 turns out is generaly the max, its then down to the pilot jets.
  24. haha, i do that a lot
  25. the ET/EX came with 2 different size taps. one at the back of the tank is 50mm with no lever just a slot for a screw driver for PRI. one just above the number 1 carb is 44mm with a lever for ON/RES/PRI.
