Mak595 Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Hey guys, picked up this 750 Kat thats been stood to ages, just deciding what to do with it, restore back to standard (ish) or build something a bit better, funds allowing ! Quote
gsxkat Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Which ever way you decide to go it looks like a good starting point, Quote
Rene EFE Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 No point in restoring as it's already (slightly) removed from original. Also, being a 750, it won't be worth silly money so I'd go all-out with building something I like out of it. Quote
Dezza Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Great base for a project as it has all the (expensive) right bodywork bits. It obviously needs an 1100 engine but these are now getting more difficult to find. Quote
davecara Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Looks a good base! I'd satin black it, stick modern fork/wheels and a B12 motor in that. But i am a heathen! 2 Quote

Welcome. Low cost option is to buy a gsx1100 power screen(whole bike) and swap engine and running gear straight in.... I expect including the purchase of the power screen bike this could be done for sub £1k.... Edited July 27, 2018 by R1guy 2 Quote
KATANAMANGLER Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Welcome. Get stuck in and make it perform and handle better by robbing bits from from more modern machinery. All the important bits are there. There are lots of very cool Kats in the project section for inspiration. My own half arsed efforts can be found here. I started out in pretty much the same place as you are now but did what I could when I could. Quote
Mak595 Posted July 27, 2018 Author Posted July 27, 2018 Thanks guys, think I'm gonna go with a bandit rear wheel but the bike came with a 3 spoke 4.5" rear, I assume 600 bandit maybe, can a 170 go on that size rim? not sure about front end yet... The frame needs painting so might as well brace it first Quote

Nice but I've decided I want to stay twin shock, the bike has progressive suspension units on now so gonna stick with them. Is it a bandit 12 motor? Edited July 27, 2018 by Mak595 1 Quote

Its the 55mph warning light cos it's a jap import, the bike isn't road worthy really as its been stood for about 15 years !! I could service the forks and put new tyres on etc but no point if I'm gonna swop stuff about... Amazingly the tank is like brand new inside Quote
gsx1100e Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Ok I see.. What would be point in changing parts whitch will be replaced soon anyway... Good bike for modifications all parts in it and still not all original painat etc. That 55mph linght was new for me. Quote
