Got some fairly wild quotes for the bore for the 1216 MTC kit...

What you expect to pay guys?

When you say wild are you thinking expensive ???

Last time I had a 4 cylinder block done it was about 8-9 years ago and that was £100 for all 4 barrels plus post.

So £150 the lot, I would not say is to much.

Gen1 Hayabussa pistons in Bandit block, 79.00mm to 81.00mm bore

OCS quoted me £450 +VAT and couldn't do it for 2 weeks.

Barum were questioning the bore to piston clearance, saying it would sieze at 0.060 microns. (My bussa pistons measure 80.942mm)

Saunders in Southampton alot more resonable at £63 per bore.

Guess where my block is going?

Seems a fair endorsement for Barum as well

ANY decent boring place will bore the hole to suit the piston and number / mark them to ensure the correct piston stays with the correct hole!

And whilst I know it happens, I don't agreed with using s/hand rings on s/hand pistons in fresh bored barrels as you've no control over ring end gaps unless they are too tight to start with - receipe for smokey engine. Its not a biggie but worth consideration IMO.

I used OCS in 2020 & whilst they were a little cheaper then, it made me wince a bit. However, their equipment is very modern, they know what they are doing & the honed finish they produced with their diamond tooling was perfect.

Regarding Barum, I've seen some of their YouTube stuff & they wouldn't get my business ever. Total shambles.
