  1. Can someone please measure and then post the centre-to-centre spacing between the holes for the rearset mounts on a 750 slabside frame? Many thanks in advance
  2. Yep, it definitely sounds like your forks are buggered. If you can identify any parts shared with your innosumo and Blandits (as FBOB is inferring) then this is going to make things a whole lot easier to mix and match parts to get a working front end with minimal grief. Will be interesting to know how this pans out
  3. What do you mean by 'forks are buggered'? Unless they are crash damaged, it may be easier and cheaper to fix the stock forks rather than to change them, especially if you are not after a performance upgrade.
  4. Bugger. Glad the damage to you and the bike is no too extensive.
  5. The clue may be on page 1 if the air filter element previously eaten by Pixie and Dixie and their offspring (were P & D a mixed sex couple????) has not been replaced with a new one.
  6. The general consensus on here is that POR 15 is the best tank sealant (question arises regularly, including from me in the past). I lined a small tank with it last year and it works well. Buy the kit with the primer and all the preparation chemicals. It's not cheap but decent stuff that works properly rarely is It may be prudent to examine in detail why your tank is leaking as you may have to have some holes braised first after rust removal before lining.
  7. Cool - please post pics of the NB bike show!
  8. Litetek do them as part of a complete o'ring kit which will costs about the same as 4 OEM small o rings.
  9. Make sure the sump is horizontal and add oil to the correct level on the window. If you have non stock wheels, suspension or (like me) a non-stock chassis and the engine sits at a different angle to stock, it's easy to overfill by mistake.
  10. It's not a tube frame, it's a beam frame. There are pics of it on my build thread in the projects section - improbably too - and it's a bike that would look shit with flatbars etc.
  11. Cutouts is fine; widening the belly pan by 50mm sounds like a whole load of grief I intend to use one of these on my Spondon project bike but it has a frame that goes round the engine not over the top of the head so clearly width issues may give me hassle.
  12. From where can you obtain those fairings that fit the bike without modification? Is RER aware that the fairings they sell for GSXRs are too narrow to go round the engine I wonder? It's listed on their website as 'Yoshimura '87 GSXR ' but 50mm is quite a lot to be out by.
  13. Buy some 3-5mm angle alloy from ebays and custom make another top cooler bracket. If I can do it, anyone can Keep the current bracket for the next project. The devil with all non-stock bikes is always in the detail.
  14. The carbs look like the 34mm CVs from an 1100 slabside, much in demand from those with turbo bikes. They look in really good shape compared with the rest of the bike suggesting they have been put on relatively recently.
  15. I like the seat unit. Is it the same as on any of the 400s? I wonder if aftermarket race jobs with no pillion bit are available anywhere
  16. Welcome back! What have you done to it since you did the dry build with all the fancy new AP Racing brakes, forks, TZ 750 seat etc.? Pics?
  17. Weird Suzuki must have had it in mind that there will be 2 additional variants of the GSXR750 that would each require different cams when they made the original F model (C cams) or else they would have started on A (which seems logical). Why they reverse letter ranking I wonder? Maybe this is the way they do things in Japan.
  18. Check the cover to case fit on the gasket faces with engineers' blue
  19. What's oil windage? It sounds like a bowel condition
  20. Looks like Pixie and Dixie have made a home in the airbox at some time in the past. If you ran the bike with that lot in there then it's probably drawn some of the debris into the carbs at least so it will probably be worthwhile stripping and cleaning the carbs before any further starting attempts. The mice might also have chewed the wiring so check it all out carefully or it could all end in tears.
  21. Don't leave it there - it's going to get knocked off. Nice find
  22. Nice find. Enjoy, rather than get all hung up over numbers that are not that important
  23. Yip, M7. Don't APE do oversized M8 bolts though so a more common M8 insert can be used?
  24. What back wheel and tyre do you have? Fitting a modern size wheel with a low profile tyre can lower the gearing.
  25. Sometimes in more ways than one
