  1. Its oilcooled Welcome to OSS, nice interdiction
  2. Seen people putting the gsx6f motor in the 550 but never the other way round, it should fit but I would think you would need to make engine mounts. Must say, your gsx550 look good and I'd keep it as is and save some cash and look out for a gsxr1100/b12/gsx1100f motor for the teapot
  3. As said above if rubber seal is still soft you can reuse it, I don't like using gasket sealer but if you clean all surfaces you could put a small smeer on the half moons (seen so meany engines with strings of sealants around the oil filter strainer) Always replace the oil line crush washers and for the cost the o-rings
  4. I believe the slab front end will fit, will just need the steering locks sorting, unless your 550 is the roller bearing type then bearing as well. Rear wheel, also believe so or should I say I know the b6 fits in the standard GS swing arm but its very tite but did it about 15+ years ago so its a bit fuzzy had one or two beers since then
  5. I will try and find a pic Cheers
  6. This is how it looks now, put standard body work back on it, I've no pics on my phone of the old look with the kat tank etc, there was some on the old site, spec, 1100 bore, CV ported head, b12 carbs, welded and balance crank, HD clutch back plate spring etc, NTV wheels and single sider goes very well and had it for other 20 years Maybe some one can get into the old site and put a pic up from there of it with its old kat tank etc, should have one on the big computer somewhere
  7. Welcome to OSS As someone will say, read the rules in the general section Tuning the b12, first how much money do you want to spend? 1.Big bore to 1216cc standard b12 head with gsxr cams (750k I believe are the best), will get a good hick in bhp for the bosh 2. Standard bores, DOT head with gsxr cams not as much increase in bhp, but much cheeper. 3. Gsxr750 38mm carbs on ever of the above. End of the day as I ask above how much do you want to spend as you can keep going and going and do you want top end power or bottom/mid torque?
  8. Welcome to OSS As to your clock bit, which ever way you go will mean you doing some electronic bits, changing the wire plug etc, good thing is the colour of the wires on Suzuki are the same so you can use any of the gsx/gsxr clocks if you wish. The only thing you will find is the blandit has the fuel gauge and a left and right indicator light (don't need this for mot). You could use the latter gsxr clocks but they have a electric speedo not worm drive, but seen it done. Have a look at oss members project as alsorts go on in there And most important we like pics, lots of pics of bikes and builds on here
  9. Hi and welcome to OSS That cover is other the pick ups, so yes you could just put the Suzuki bag back on or a rubber bung, you just need something to stop the water and other sh#t getting in there As your new have a read of the rules in the general section The gs500 is not really oldskool but stick around as it's your first and your Suzuki day will develop
  10. They seem to be cheep for what you get
  11. They are good for the running gear
  12. So, just to make sure I've got it all 1. All 4 cylinders are getting fuel. 2. Have good compression on all 4 cylinders (above 100psi) 3. All 4 plugs are giving a good spark. So if all the above is wright, try 1. Get 4 new plugs put them in and see, you may have some duff plugs (had this myself the plugs fail under compression but look OK otherwise). 2. Put HT and caps from 1to4 and 2 to 3 see what happens, if it stay with 3/4 cylinders or goes to 1/2. May have 2 bad caps. 3. Check 3/4 cylinder carbs are not flooding, are you running air box or pod filters? But my bet is on duff plugs, you sometimes find they give a good spark out and against the head but when put in they go coupt.
  13. Don't think they do that anymore, to many bikes stolen to order Dropped nice mate.
  14. The fuel has most probably washed the bores, so putting a small amount on oil down each bore may help, but turn it over by hand and leave it in for a day or so.
  15. I always find, if there is not a bolt on part, find what you like and make it fit other wise life just gets boring
  16. Started my mid life crisis at 17 now nearly 50 and the same mid life crisis is still there I say mid life at 17 because the way I rode my bikes I did not think I would still be here at nearly 50, but I am
  17. I used a 50cc moped front mudguard, cut it half refiberglassed it and there you go gsxr1100 k slingshot forks, wheel etc.
  18. Welcome back to OSS. Try Eblag
  19. Welcome to OSS can't go wrong with a Kat yours looks nice but must agreed about the paint work As to your question, I have seen on the net (cannot remember where, maybe flebay) that you can get a magnetic pick up sender for the front wheel which has a worm drive at the other end for the clocks.
  20. If you have a hack saw, yes
  21. wraith

    bandit dot head

Me too, mm evey day there is oldskool and then oilsteem
  22. As above, clean tape/get a rebuild kit, check the hose is in good nick. Best way, take tank off remove vac pipe from carbs (smaller one) attached to tape, put other end of pipe in mouth and suck, if fuel comes out of tape its OK Make shore the breather hole in the cap is clear as this can stop the fuel from flowing
