  1. Welcome to OSS Yes their is something wrong there GS1000 start very well, my GS1000 Start's first push of the button, apart from when its -0 or below, which I don't think you will get that sort of temperature in Texas
  2. Mmmm that's weird, I have one in my gs850/1000g years back I know it was a bit of a wiggle. You had to remove the hub, then put the wheel in by sliding it in from the l/h side (from the rear) with the hub still off then put the spinel in place without the spacer (r/h side) and rear brake mount. Then twist the wheel sideways with the spinel in place (so the front part of the wheel is twisted over to the left and the rear over to the right) locat the hub on the wheel and bolt up the hub onto the swing arm. Then remove the spinel and place the spacer and rear brake hanger, replace the spinel and bolt up I had apx 5mm between the tyre and swing arm. Just to make shore it the gsx1100g 4.5" rear wheel with a 160 tyre.
  3. RF600 front goes strate into a b6 and uses the same discs, brakes, spacers etc but its a 3.5" rim so a 120 front tyre instead of a 110
  4. PS. You will find the DOT head will make a lot of difference.
  5. Mr Suzuki did the standard can timing as a good all round timing, if you where tuning the motor and wanted the most bhp out of it then yes slotted cam sprockets and doing the cam timing is good but if you're after a good easy motor and don't need/want to get evey bhp out of it keep the standard timing. Don't for get with can timing you can give it more bhp or more torque
  6. You just have to remove the driver hub each time you want to remover the wheel
  7. I think you will find the gsx1100g 4.5" rear will fit.
  8. The high beam is the weaker part of the bulb and what may be happing is the small wire on the high beam is corneting to the low beam and over loading that ? May also be a bad wire posable head stock area? Try riding with just the low beam on with new bulb and see if it still blows. Also headlamp is not lose and bouncing about/coursing more vibrations?
  9. If they could get a gs650gt (shaft drive, not kat style) frame and tank they'd be happy, as only need the frame and tank as looking at oilcooled motor modern running gear and one off seat etc The only ones they have seen up to now is out of there budget but they are also not in a rush, and as I will be helping them building it and have one house and two bikes to do never am I
  10. I know what you all are saying about eblag, you can still get the odd bargen, but most of the time things go for silly money unless its me that's selling Once you could build a bike (if you did not want a show winner) quite cheep, nowadays your look well over £1000 and that's a basic build up, and everyone wants 20-30 year old parts like new.
  11. Cheers, so if I go for a srad front end will need to sort out some wiring Dose it run off the front wheel or sprocket?
  12. Cheers for that, the engine mounts are not a problem as a oilcooled motor is going in it, the shorter tank on the 650 is good and will help with there reach The reason for using a 650 frame is so the wider swing arm/wheel will go in easier. They already have a 600srad rear end (no frame or motor or front end thow just sourcing parts) on a tite budget.
  13. Hi all over here can anybody tell me (as looking at a srad front end for a project) dose the 96-2000 gsxr600 srad have a worm drive speedo or is it electoronic? Also dose the 750 srad wheel fit the 600?
  14. That's the bit I was thinking of always someone helpful on here
  15. Welcome to OSS, Three things, 1 . Try a interdiction. 2. Try posting for oilcooled bikes in the oilcooled part not the aircooled 3. Try doing a search, the info was posted on here with a link and step by step info but sometimes I must say it dose not always work very well
  16. I have a set of 1100k forks on the Kat and find them to be quite poppy ie when you go over a bump they rebound quickly. But I do need to set them up more and have some progressive fork springs for them.
  17. I thought that was the case, best checking
  18. Easy one this but my book dose not say the forks size of the gsxr rwu 750 and the slabside forks. So will the rwu gsxr750 slingshot forks fit the slabside yokes? Cheers.
  19. Ok all, Can anybody tell me is there a difference in engine cradle size and tank size between the gs550 and gs650? The reason being is, there is someone where I live who wants to build a GS with a wide rear wheel and oilcooled motor but they are only short and has a upper body problem so they need to look at the 550 size of frame, but I was thinking as the 650 is a shaft the swing arm mounts are wider so better for a latter gsxr swingarm and 5.5" + rear wheel They have a gs550 which they can ride OK and if the gs650 are the same size they can start building a bike and stay on the road at the same time. Cheers for any help.
  20. Would a gsxr1300 Hayabusa down pips fit? Just thinking as I have a set of gsxr1000 on my oilcooled 1127 kat with some tweaking.
