  1. I didn't, but I would think it's the b6 head that had a shallower combustion chamber. So using the b6 head with the 750 pistons would of bumped the compression up. I never even rode the bike before I sold it as I got it running and the jetting somewhere need but it needed tyres etc but a mate offered me good money for it and I needed the space.
  2. I put a set of long stroke 750 barrels and pistons on a b6 motor (project see how far we go gs550 b6) Used the b6 head but had to use two head gaskets so the pistons didn't touch. Apart from that it was a straight swap. If it came to it again, I'd just put a 750 motor in it and just change the cc on the V5 and leave the engine number as is, because as you say the DVLA just make problems just for a joke
  3. Really need to know what model, could be 101mm or 105mm or 100mm or 95 and so on
  4. APX 25mm someone will be along to give you a definite answer, or put a separate post/thread up just for the swingarm It would probably be quicker to swap the complete front end then just the wheel Ps, if you've read the rules (RTFR) you will know if you get 50+ post up it will open the for sale/wanted section. Then you can put a wanted post for all the bits you need and you be surprised what OSS people have in there garage/sheds
  5. Welcome to OSS If you want to keep 18" wheels, I'd look at swapping the complete front end off a gsxr slabside 750 or 1100. Be a easy straight swap (same Headstock bearings) then you get better forks etc but you may need to alter the lock stops. Yes a gsx1100 swingarm arm will go straight in like @TonyGee says and yes they are a bit longer, think APX 25mm. Yes the slabside rear wheel will go in and I remember the chain run is not far out but I'm thinking back 30 years now and as I can't remember what I did yesterday Most people will drop the forks through the yokes by 5-10mm to quicken up the front end instead of longer shocks (just because it's saves buy new shocks)
  6. Are you meaning the standard gsx600f carbs? 3 different sizes but one is the tin top carbs but a smaller diameter.
  7. You mean, but first, spend more later as it will always turn into a project
  8. You could have them welded up, then drilled and taped. Be cheeper than Timeserts Timeserts are good but unless you're a garage they are expensive for a one off job. Or if you have room between the calipers and discs just put a lock nut and bolt on, with thread lock. It's a bodge
  9. I'd say that's cheep for the engine spec, it wouldn't be far off that for all the mods. Granted it's not the most popular model but cheep never the less.
  10. I think, I'd be asking the owner why he hasn't fitted a oil cooler with the size of big bore and cams etc Has he had any problems with overheating? And the big question, if all this work has been done (which will not of been cheep) why is he selling it for a, as you say a fair price. Don't know what you're calling a fair price.
  11. I'm not a expert on the 4v 1100 engine but you say it's been bored out to 1300cc, didn't think they did a 1300cc? I thought the biggest you can go on standard barrels was 1260? May of had the re sleeved? Also for a big bore engine, I can't see a oil cooler? Yes the cam to cam links but no cooler.
  12. I had a set of b6 forks in a gs1000 and found the standard forks would bottom out, I put upgraded springs in (gsx600f witch, in the old days a nice upgrade for the b6) and went up to 20 fork oil. They where better but still not good. Get a rf600 bottom yoke, fits the MK1 b6 forks etc and you don't need to change the stem, JUST fits the gsx/GS head stock.
  13. Yes, I use the cheep Chinese plug and play flasher relays. Up to now, will over 6 years, since I put one on my bike, it's still working just fine.
  14. MK1 b12 . I put this in air cooled because I knew it was one of the air cooled engines that had the switch.
  15. From what I've found, All GS 2v and the gsx750 4v all use the 26mm ones (don't fit oil cooled engine) Gsx1100 4v seem to use the 36mm ones but only the 1984 onwards (efe, es, ex type bikes) have the gear position. These fit the oil cooled engine if you (like me) want to use/fit a gear position indicator. I was looking into this for two reasons. 1. My gsx1157et has gsx750es clocks and id like the gear indicator to work (yes I know sad ) 2. Don't know if I like the aftermarket ones with the glued on bits, all seems a bit figgly ?
  16. So does the gsxr1100w have all the wires for the gears? Or am I looking at this upside down
  17. Mmm I thought all oil cooled used the larger 36mm ones, yet one more school day I wonder what the gsxr1100k is, will have to go and have a look.
  18. Looking on the Alpha site, the 750 has the same one as the GS range and the 1100et is a different part number to the ef/efe 1100
  19. I will start checking out Alpha sports sit. Forgot all about that site, I used to use it all the time for comparing parts.
  20. Do you know it the gsx750 have a 36mm gear position one ?
  21. Cheers, I'm looking for one with the gear position. I've got a couple of the ones with just a neutral. I was told the the earlier gsx et has the same as the efe. But they all seem to be the 26mm ones.
