Hi all, new to the group.

I’ve recently brought a mk motorsport Martek pikes peak frame. Lovely build quality. Currently running a r6 front end and rear wheel. Looking for a gsxr1100 donor bike.

Thanks for the welcome. Always wanted one and thought not a bad place to start for my first project. Just got to find a donor bike and all the parts that I haven’t thought about yet

Great project: powerscreen engines are way up on power compared with B12 lumps and will widen your search. A complete donor bike is also going to be a whole lot cheaper than a GSXR1100 :).

Beautiful work as always from Mark on the frame.

You should be able to grab everything you need without stripping a whole bike down. Might be worth making a list and (once you get a few more posts) chucking it in the wanted section.

Off the top of my head these are the prices I've paid from lowest to most expensive for parts:

Engine: £550-750

Carbs:  £150-250

Tank: £30-150

loom: £30-100

switchgear: £30-75

CDI: £50-100

MC: £150-350 as you'll probably go radial anyway

Clutch Perch:  £20-150

Cables: £30

Battery Lithium: £140

I reckon it'll work out cheaper than buying an 1100 and you can refurbish each bit as you chuck it on.

Cheers Digs.

id prefer not to strip a complete bike down if I could help it as only really want most of the parts that you have stated above to get it on the road, most bits will be upgraded and changed as time goes on.

Hoping to have a turbo engine in it eventually :)

Hi man, look forward to seeing what you do with it. Is it done yet :D

I wish it was lol. Going to be a while, need to get loads of parts yet. Told the misses it would take a couple of years, I have no patience so I think that she knows that’s a lie :)

Who made the tank? I reallly like the cable tunnel thingies welded into the frame. A quirky detail like you'd see on a (very trick) bike from the 60s/70s :).

It was made by mark at mk motorsport, they made the frame too

Nice one, make sure you check wheel alignments and stuff (y).  Going to be a cool build no doubt about it (y)

I’ve just brought a tuned and rebuilt 1100 engine with carbs and cdi, also managed to get a full wiring loom, going to pick it up next Friday can’t wait to make a bit of progress on the bike (y)
