  1. you've got plenty of bikes. All of them broken already?
  2. use a spanner to short the starter solenoid (put the open end on both fat wires, may produce some sparks). If the starter turns normally it rules out the starter and the battery.
  3. IIRC the size of the reservoir is different between 750's and 1100's. Diameter is 57mm on my 750L shock, I think 52mm on 1100's.
  4. sorry I meant fully-synthetic oils. I did some research about this stuff when I studied automotive engineering long ago. Also about car ois in motorbike engines, the results were quite surprising. But that's another story
  5. good semi-synthetic oils can handle up to 140 degrees without problems.
  6. any marks on the pistons? My guess is over-revving after a furious down-shift
  7. and then there is the endless discussion of the fuel tank being half full or half empty.
  8. Air is much more 'flexible' than any fluid. So if the tank is (almost) full and the amount of air is very small, it might work. But if the tank is say half empty it will take a while before the fuel stops flowing.
  9. I know that the Powerscreen (GSX1100F) generator cranks out more than other oilcooled ones. Not sure how much though. Something to do with touring bikes having adjustable windowss and needing heated grips and other shit like that.
  10. yes, 1st gen T-pot 750 (till '98) has a Dothead. Basically the same engine as the GSX-R 750 J/K. Clutch operation on right side means GSX-R, on left side means Teapot.
  11. Find the info on http://www.jtsprockets.com/catalogue
  12. they all have a take-off, unused ones are plugged. The same take-offs are used for synchronising the carbs.
  13. there are 3 different carb tops for the 40mm BST's. One for Sweden and Germany (13502-41C10), one for France (41C30) and one for the other markets (41C00). Germany and France had a 100bhp limit in the early '90s.
  14. yeah that's a cool find. About the paintjob, black with blue striping is my favourite on the ET.
  15. that bike could do with some OSS stickers
  16. I like how across the street all the gnomes came outside to have a look
  17. not when non-standard clamps are used. As said before, they f*ck up the rubbers.
