  1. Do a bench test on the carbs. They'll probably show a leak.
  2. my guess is no, but ive made all kinds of seat fit other frames with a bit of jiggery pokery
  3. got to agree with fatblokeonbandit, if the mileage is correct and it hasn't had a real hard life then I would say the engine is ok, (they are pretty tough) the first thing I would of looked at was the carbs. they are getting on now and float valves are wearing out, ive seen this countless times, a new set of float valves usually fixes them. do a bench test on the carbs to rule them out before stripping the top end again.
  4. the spokes look really thin for ally !! could the wheel be steel ? a magnet will tell you.
  5. spot on, I did the same thing on my GSX11 after fitting a new battery and MOSFET reg/rec. perfect charging
  6. yes its just a cover over the fuel sender, if the sender leaks fuel the cover will catch it and the fuel will drain down a hose to safety.
  7. spraymax 2K clear coat is excellent stuff, its just like what the pro's use but in a can, it has to be mixed in the can to activate it but you have to use it all within 2 days or so. used it many times with fantastic results, and its tough. but its not cheap. about £25 a can but in my mind worth it.
  8. a car one won't fit !!!!! how does a bigger bore make it easier to bleed ? just use one from a modern-ish bike like a bandit for example.
  9. points gap isn't critical but the dwell angle is, try adjusting the gap on the points that are out and see if the timing comes right. it could be after market points that are just shite !!!!!
  10. mine had the bigger UK style tank higher on the top. the others where lower on the top.
  11. we all have a brain fart moment sometimes
  12. if you mean the ET then yes same tank
  13. one thing I noticed is, Suzuki use their own voltmeters but who owns one ? ive used the Suzuki one and used a none Suzuki one and get different readings !! I was told by a Suzuki tech to use the Suzuki one in the workshop. just a thought.

    Fuel leak

if its coming out of the overflows on all 4 then it might be worth tapping the carb bodys with with a rubber mallet to free the float needles

    Fuel leak

I think he means the prime position on the tap.
  17. if their is room how about a smallish cooler and fit a fan behind it ? my GSX1400 has a fan but its rare to here it on them, but the 1400 has a very big cooler
  18. pull the plugs out, they can tell you whats going on.
