Welcome to OSS.
As said the b6 wheel is fine in a gs1000. This had been done many times before.
If I remember right the b6 front won't go strate in the gs1000 forks, but the gs500 twin will you just need to make hangers for the calliper.
Useful, but could do with a pic of how it looks on the bike, angles etc of the shock so I don't get the shock/knuckle joint at to much of a angles or to strate.
Has anybody got any pics of top and bottom shock mounts including linkages from a b6 mk1 don't know if the mk2 are different. ( don't shout at me for asking about a b6 ), as its for the 550 oilcooled kat project.
Thanks.
Cheers,
I have not got a milling machine, so they where done by hand.
10mm billet sat no top of the standard brake bolt holes on the forks, spacer's made up to space the callipers.
I would say yes, you can get off the shelf silencers that will go strate on.
If you look on eblag under custom silencers they will be there and not to much cash, and there are different styles.
Cheers all for the replies,
I asked because I sore some on the bay, for not much money.
I have gsxr 1100j carbs on the GS at the moment.
Just for info you can use z1000j carb rubbers on the slide carb heads to get a CV carb on them
Here's a pic of my gs1000g a bit modified
A mate has just got a part done gs550 project barn find, thinks its a v reg? (No body work or v5).
It needs new head stock bearings but they are the roller bearing type and we can only find on eblag taper bearings.
Anybody know what year/models have roller bearing (ie ball bearings)?
Thanks
PS. The top and bottom part of the head stock where the bearing ring would sit is 48mm at top and bottom.
As you say valve seals, try just starting it up and ticking over for a short time then check your plugs and see if they are oily or wet, or before you start it up remove the plugs and see if there is excess of oil in the bores.
