  1. The 45 denotes GS750. The 00J will be the colour. Go onto AlphaSports website, and look the ‘fische up.
  2. And make sure the seal groove is spotless. I wouldn’t be too bothered about the cylinder being marked, it’s bad corrosion you need to look out for! Before you assemble it, wash out in Meths, dry with compressed air, and use red rubber grease on the seals. Then go and introduce yourself in ‘General’.
  3. There you are! That didn’t kill you, did it? The whole idea of this forum is to share idea’s, information ect. ‘Its not Rocket Science’!
  4. He’s posting the same question all over Farcebook too!
  5. @Gixer1460I’ve taken a chance on the 1100 cams. Do I use the 1100 cam wheels, or fit the 1000 Kat ones! 1100 or 1000 valve clearances/timing?
  6. I’m sure one of the guys will come up with the answer.

    Cams

I’ve been looking for a Katana1000 ex. cam. I’ve been offered a pair of 16v 1100 cams. The lobe height appears to be .5mm higher than the original. Would these work ok, with no piston/valve interface?
  8. Can the year of the motor be determined from the rest of the number, Joseph?
  9. Is the 750 Aircooled 16v engine designation R701? May have found a donor.
  10. Looks like you’re getting the spanner’s out for Christmas then! Welcome!
  11. The price of that stuff, you strain it and re-use it!
  12. An alternative (paint safe). Dissolve 1tin of Black Treacle in 1gallon of boiling water. Obviously you’ll want more, but that’s the mix ratio. Fill your tank up with it. Agitate now and again. It takes longer than acid, but won’t damage your paint. Flush thoroughly, and dry.
  13. It’s not Baking Soda that stops the re-formation of rust … it’s the acid.
  14. Brick cleaner is a mild form of Phosphoric Acid. That’ll do fine at the dilution you’re using. When you’re done, neutralise the acid with Baking Soda and water. The surface you’re left with will form a coating against rusting.
  15. Are you talking about the cam cap bolts? If so, it’s 6.0 to 8.5 ft. lbs. Or, the cyl. head cover bolts? 6.5 to 7.0 ft. lbs
  16. Great write-up! Will be following with interest!
  17. Just Google ‘Loctite Products’ and take your pick.
  18. Thank you! Just been shorn. Drastically! But, as they say, ‘A bad haircut only lasts a week’!
  19. These are old codes, and bear no resemblance to the modern ones. All you can do, is find some original panels, and paint match them. Dream Machine will do a perfect job, but it won’t be cheap!
  20. Pop over to General and tell us all about yourself and your bike. You’ll get a far better response. Maybe start a project thread?
