  1. @Captain Chaosis your man. I think his drawings are in ‘The Vault’.
  2. Would an 1100 Aircooled engine fit into a GS550 frame, or is an oil boiler an easier option?
  3. Don’t think about it, just go and get it. People are going mad for them just now. It won’t be there long if you don’t! Just do it!
  4. If the engine’s tight now, it’ll be tighter with the DOT head. Carbs will probably foul frame too.
  5. Most cases, the spring always goes towards the oil.
  6. Neutral is when plunger is in selector drum detent. Move gears to neutral position also. Be careful selector forks engage in tracks on gear train when mating cases. DONT FORCE ANYTHING!If cases hang up, see what’s wrong. As Tony says, check you’ve got all gears, and crank revolves when cases together. Bolt up, and check again.
  7. Well thanks for that, boys! Plenty good info there!
  8. What model 750 frame was reputed to be the best for handling, and is there that much difference between the 750 & 1100 frames?
  9. If Hagon shocks are too expensive in Spain, why don’t you call Hagon in the UK, and get one posted?
  10. Yup. The whole project was on the old site. Very talented lad!
  11. Yup. Robinson’s Foundary. Michael or Michelle will sort you out. Just give your OSS username.
  12. Read ‘Frankensteins Pages’ in The Vault. All you need to know is therein!
  13. The old habit of making sure everything turns nicely at each stage of a rebuild, makes it a lot easier to locate the cause of said 'stiction'!
  14. Good story! Great to see you both survived!
  15. It’s going to be an interesting project. Something that doesn’t crop up too often. Keep it on the back burner, simmering gently!
  16. Very nice, too! Good find!
  17. The original VF had a poor camshaft lubrication system. Many owner mods done with external system to cams. Nearly did old Soichiro in! Is that not what you’re thinking about?
