Engine stands

I learned today that Rene EFE makes lovely engine stands. The ones I saw had oil cooled engines fitted to them though,  so not sure about any air cooled versions..

Would there be any benefit to making a backplate to this so you could mount it on a engine stand (for car engines) so it could be rotated for example?

Here's mine. It's the universal engine stand available everywhere with the front bit added so the engine can be rotated safely. Not hard to modify

Thanks but I can't take credit for the design. I saw it on the net somewhere & decided to give it a go. Works well & will take any engine. The front part was made from some box section I had around, some ally angle & the shiny bit is cut from an old suspension strut off a car. The original stand was about £40. Well worth the effort.

I made an adapter to fit my engine to the same type of engine stand.

Did not add any support to front end as you did, still worked fine .

Engine was on there all winter no problem.

Any simple support is possible although a two bolt rear is required if you want it to sit anywhere near level. The supported back and front version makes it considerably easier to rotate and work on. The coombehouse solution is quite 'elegant' in a ghetto sort of way!
