I think it's a bit to do with personal preference and experience. I know of at least 3 Very expensive race-engines blow up because of Motul. Changed the oil and all was well.
Different shape and oilcooler takeoffs. This is (I think) for differences in exhaustsetup. However, it you have the oilpickup to go with the sump, you can make 'em all fit, I do it all the time
