Draw through carb and carbon seal ponderings
Reinhoud replied to Samikoo's topic in Forced Induction
All I know from what I read in your topic is that the HSR carburetors are very good carburetors! Had one on my trail bike, and I loved it. runs smooth and a very good throttle response, awesome acceleration pump. -
20 to 30% higher as what's in
-
I know, temp guns don't work very well on shiny materials... We use it at work quite a bit. It was ss, but brushed, not shiny. It's not exact science, but it gives a bit of an indication..
-
I know.. Hehe, you're right, only 7 psi, but it goes better as with 17psi in the past, what a different adjustment of ignition and carburetors can do..
-
My up pipe is made of stainless steel, yesterday after a 50km trip I took my temp gun, my up pipe was just 22 degrees, the up pipe nearest to the exhaust headers the pipe was just over 30 degrees. It was a lot cooler as what I expected..

I like that bike..

Carbs of the 750 and 1000 are the same, even the same jetting if I remember correctly.
-
I thought it might have been just a tiny bit too high, the cylinders I mean. I couldn't be bothered taking the engine out, fit the 1000 to realise the engine wouldn't fit. Should have tried then
-
Is that so? I had a 750 and had that idea too, I bought a complete 1000 because it was cheaper than an engine, but after some light measuring, I thought it just didn't fit, that's why made my 750 redundant and butchered my 1000.
-
And after your yes another quetion automaticly will follow... How far can you bore those 850 barrels up? Bigger pistons close to 1000cc with the shorter stroke will give good properties most likely..

I think so, but there's a bit taken off, the photo's I have aren't clear. The O-ring fits in as per normal, if that's the question.
-
Don't use copper gaskets, use OEM, MLS or fibre from Cometic. Fibre from Cometic can handle 17psi boost. Copper gaskets are very hard to get them free of leaks, I couldn't get it right..

As long as the rubber isn't too hard it should be ok
-
Keep the power under control! to about 180/190HP should be safe on stock rods, keep the revs down too. Do it accidently right and get a spike in power, and before you know it one of the con rods is going to have a look outside.. Ask me how I know

It's hard to find stuff like that for a GS, that GSX part fits a GS
-
Center photo, the right one is what I have in my GS
-
Use a lock up from a GSX, SPS has them.
-
GSX clutch baskets are stronger than GS baskets, I was told
-
That doesn't fit, the clutch basket goes behind the crankcase, the GSX basket will not fit in the GS1000 crankcase unless there's 7mm taken off
-
Yes. I have a GSX1100 basket in my GS1000, again, about 7mm need to be taken off, you need a lathe to do that, or be a master with a hecksaw
-
GSX clutch fits a GS1000, but you need to take about 7mm of the basket.
-
Red are the breathers, the fuel supply line is in the center, the vacuum line is on one of the carbs
-
I've got a set of GSX750 carbies, I do have a jet, but my carbies have only one jet I can take out, the other side looks fixed. The jet I have has 150 stamped in it, if I read it correctly. You can have it if it's the right size. I can send you the housing of 1 carb if you can't find anything.

What's the number on the needle? I've got a 5C32, you can have if it's the same..
