  1. Does it really matter what model it is? I've read once that the E in GS1000E means it's build in 1979.
  2. Ah, thanks. I'm not after big hp numbers. Keeping it in piece is the main goal, I'm afraid it happens again..
  3. I had that turbo charger on mine, it spooled up at 5000rpm, and at 5500 rpm it went flat out.. Next turbo I put on is going to be smaller. This one is from an Lancer EVO III?
  4. Is the crankcase limited in how much power it can handle?
  5. Thanks guys, so I'll use the 493 rods then.. I'ts going to be a slow process, again..
  6. Depends what you want. I think it's about as big as the turbo I had on my bike, TD05 (Lancer EVO III), 1245cc, it started spooling up at 5000rpm, and started really kicking in at 5500rpm. When you were riding it at normal speeds the turbo wouldn't really kick in, but when you hit the 5500 line...
  7. The info I gave wasn't right. An automatic tensioner should go tighter when there is a loose part in the cam chain. When you you loosen the screw of the tensioner, the tensioner should be able to go less tight.. Good you fixed it
  8. Thanks! It went from 90km/h to 240km/h in top gear in about 300 meters. http://www.dynoman.net/engine/rods/rods-carrillo.html What I can find on the internet also looks like dragbikes with over 300 hp use the 493 rods... Carrillo rods costs AUD1500, 493 rods costs AUD596 (at the local Suzuki dealer)
  9. Gents, Hi, I'm not sure if I'm new here, I thought to have signed up a long time ago... Does anyone know how strong the 493 Katana rods are in comparison with say Carrillo rods? I saw on the www that the 493 Katana rods are used in dragracing.. Some say that GS1000 cranks can handle 200hp when welded, I know from experience they can't ! I'm after new con rods, but Carrillo's are more as twice as expensive as 493 rods. How much power/torque can 493 rods Handle? (I know GSX rods are 1mm wider and longer, the local reconditioning company can grind them down to 20mm) Thanks
