imago Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Need to start confirming who will be there for the overnight. Drop in or day visitors more than welcome, just drop by as you can/want to. I need to know numbers for the overnight to see if I'm laying on food or if it's only a few then we can sort as needed (loads of places nearby and well served by JustEat etc). If you're stopping over then you'll need to bring something to sleep on/in. Clean bog, sink and a kitchen area for brews etc are in the building, loads of parking space outside. The format is basically the usual OSS gathering style, chat bollocks, eat, drink and be merry. Arrive whatever time suits, depart similarly, Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd September. Unit 18a, Walkers Road, North Moons Moat Ind Est, Redditch. B98 9HE. Quote

No problem Paul, we can't plan for the life stuff. I'm thinking if there's half a dozen or more I'll get Simone to do her Caribbean cooking thing. Less than that and we can order in or walk round to one of the pubs. I know @clivegtois in for the overnight too, but I think @davecarahas stuff on that weekend and @GeorgeEI7KOis a maybe depending on flights. There's full workshop facilities so @gsxwill be OK. 1 Quote

Cheers Larry. On annual leave then, so no worries about zooming away for work. 1 Quote
Breadman Posted July 16 Posted July 16 Probable saturday daytime. Your only 40 miles away. If the turbo is still in one piece, would love to attend 1 Quote
imago Posted July 17 Author Posted July 17 Just to clarify, anyone's welcome to just turn up on the day, no invite/approval/permission required. I just need to know who and how many will be stopping over. 1 Quote

imago Posted August 24 Author Posted August 24 We're 4 weeks away now, and given the numbers staying overnight I don't think it justifies full catering on site. There are loads of options to order in, and a couple of eatery type pubs within easy walking distance. There's also this place literally a couple of steps from the workshop door should anyone get peckish later on. So I think we'll keep it simple and do it that way this time round. In terms of timing I'll be there for a normal start on the Friday from 07:00 and then stay over until whenever people drift off on the Sunday. Oh, and if you want a chair, bring a chair. 2 Quote
imago Posted August 28 Author Posted August 28 I've just been chatting to Adam and negotiated a healthy OSS discount. Who's Adam you ask? Well, he's the owner of the burger/dessert/ice cream/churro place across the road (link in the post above). He says just walk over, ask them for whatever you want from the menu and they shall provide. 1 Quote
Havoc Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Hi Larry, I haven't really known where I'd be but I can confirm I'll be down Saturday afternoon and stop over. Sorry for the late commitment 1 Quote

imago Posted September 14 Author Posted September 14 (edited) Well it's a week away, and everything's sorted this end. Just to repeat/confirm I'll be here from 07:30 on Friday morning and anyone's welcome to turn up anytime between then and lunchtime on Sunday. Drinks and nibbles will be available, and we'll be doing an engine swap on @gsx's Katana on the Friday. Saturday daytime will be noseying, chit chat and such like. Friday night and Saturday night will be beers for/with those stopping over. Breakfast is available from from Greggs, Subway or Maccy D's just up the road, I recommend the Greggs as it's one of the better ones. I won't be going on a ride out as I need to be around for drop in visitors, but there are some nice roads I can point you to should you wish. Stratford, Henley etc are easy riding distance for example. I imagine most of you will come in on the A435 dual carriageway, there aren't any speed cameras and I've never seen a copper on there apart from the section just as you leave Birmingham. Not trying to teach Granny to suck eggs, but the only cautionary note I would offer is for the slip road you take off the A435. It's a very long tight bend that tightens up considerably as it comes back under the A435, and it's blind for its length. You can only see probably 10 - 15 metres in front as you come round it. Aside from the danger of overcooking it you can frequently come up behind an artic or Morris and Doris doing 30 mph. If you're cranked right over doing 50 things can get 'exciting'. I say this from experience. Edited September 14 by imago 5 Quote
clivegto Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Do you have a kettle and microwave at the workshop Larry? Quote

I have a kettle and fridge in the kitchen bit, but I haven't got a microwave yet, it's on a list of stuff yet to sort. That said we're well supported for hot food round here at any time of the day. 1 Quote
