Got this little nugget early last year to build into a 9 second dragbike beast on a budget. A lot of progress has been made and I will endeavour to show the main parts of my simple build.

Nice ambition but a 9 second ET won't be 'budget' - chassis work, lose weight and use of Nitrous will help!

Got a nice 1170 engine to go in it, that will get it some of the way.

Started by removing and selling all the standard bits I didn't need, 750 engine and running gear raised some cash for my first upgrades. A complete bandit 6 rear end with 2 swinging arms and a bandit 1200 front .

Bit of cutting and careful slotting together and the arms were ready to sneak over to my welding buddy, cheap extended arm if ever I saw one. Heavy though!

Nice project!   Sub’d this right away.  Are you going to brace the swing arm?

No mate , sleeved on the inside quite substantially so should take it!

Chopped some unnecessary bits off the frame and made a simple seat support , not going with a standard seat. Using a fibreglass single seat because that's what the rider wanted.

Few coats of tough black and the swinger looks quite presentable.

Looks very presentable, amazing what is achievable without throwing tons of money at a project.

Won't the gear change go the wrong way?

Got hold of some rs36,s from facebook marketplace, main jet holder snapped off when opened up on one carb. Not a bargain after all. People do take the piss sometimes. All cleaned and rebuilt now ready to go.

I think RS’s are prone to that! Two of mine snapped off when I stripped them. They only need a little tweak to tighten. Got them out ok though.

this was gone as I touched it, allens to the rescue
