et1170 Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 Got this little nugget early last year to build into a 9 second dragbike beast on a budget. A lot of progress has been made and I will endeavour to show the main parts of my simple build. 6 Quote
Gixer1460 Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 Nice ambition but a 9 second ET won't be 'budget' - chassis work, lose weight and use of Nitrous will help! Quote

et1170 Posted March 2, 2021 Author Posted March 2, 2021 Started by removing and selling all the standard bits I didn't need, 750 engine and running gear raised some cash for my first upgrades. A complete bandit 6 rear end with 2 swinging arms and a bandit 1200 front . Quote
et1170 Posted March 4, 2021 Author Posted March 4, 2021 Bit of cutting and careful slotting together and the arms were ready to sneak over to my welding buddy, cheap extended arm if ever I saw one. Heavy though! 7 Quote
et1170 Posted March 5, 2021 Author Posted March 5, 2021 Beefy 1200 bandit front end , wont go faster but looks the part. 3 Quote
Tinsnips Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 (edited) Nice project! Sub’d this right away. Are you going to brace the swing arm? Edited March 5, 2021 by Tinsnips Quote

et1170 Posted March 6, 2021 Author Posted March 6, 2021 Chopped some unnecessary bits off the frame and made a simple seat support , not going with a standard seat. Using a fibreglass single seat because that's what the rider wanted. 5 Quote
et1170 Posted March 7, 2021 Author Posted March 7, 2021 Mocked up the bits I had so far, liking the stance . 5 Quote
et1170 Posted March 8, 2021 Author Posted March 8, 2021 Few coats of tough black and the swinger looks quite presentable. 5 Quote

et1170 Posted March 9, 2021 Author Posted March 9, 2021 Got some tecbike rearsets, same as used on my x7. Look pretty good for the price. Just need to beef up that bracket! 5 Quote
et1170 Posted March 10, 2021 Author Posted March 10, 2021 10mm aluminium plate cut roughly to size, will make pretty later. 5 Quote
R1guy Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 Looks very similar to the solution I came up with 3 Quote
IceKat Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 A great start to the project et Even a "proper" sticker showing on the clutch cover Quote

et1170 Posted March 12, 2021 Author Posted March 12, 2021 Got hold of some rs36,s from facebook marketplace, main jet holder snapped off when opened up on one carb. Not a bargain after all. People do take the piss sometimes. All cleaned and rebuilt now ready to go. 2 Quote
Swiss Toni Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 I think RS’s are prone to that! Two of mine snapped off when I stripped them. They only need a little tweak to tighten. Got them out ok though. 1 Quote
