et1170 Posted February 24, 2025 Author Posted February 24, 2025 Test day at the Pod on Sunday, weather permitting Carl's search for a 9 second run must be possible! 4 Quote
et1170 Posted March 8, 2025 Author Posted March 8, 2025 Carl struggled finding grip on a couple of runs but she hooked up ok in this 1. New pb 10.14 and 1.48 60ft. Getting there! 6 Quote
et1170 Posted March 29, 2025 Author Posted March 29, 2025 Set up at the Springspeed Nationals. Plenty of grip so could this be the first 9 second pass? Out around 10 1030. Should be live on santa pod youtube 4 Quote
et1170 Posted May 6, 2025 Author Posted May 6, 2025 Unfortunately gearbox issues scuppered any chance of running a 9! Not shifting from 3rd to 4th. On inspection found some dog damage and a gear wandering about on the shaft rather than being fixed! A quick trip to see Claire Rule and let her wave her magic wand and hopefully we have a sorted box. Engine rebuilt and ready to install. 1 Quote
darcieeves Posted May 15, 2025 Posted May 15, 2025 Sounds like an awesome project—nothing better than turning a barn find into a 9-second missile! Can’t wait to see the progress and how you’ve tackled the build on a budget. Bring on the details and pics—this is the kind of grassroots racing we love to see! Quote

I ran exactly the same spec `box at Melbourne (as did Alan Ward) - and shifted faultlessly all weekend , so should be good ! Quote
et1170 Posted April 6 Author Posted April 6 Out in the etbike class for the 2026 season at Festival of Power, santa pod , Easter weekend. Bike running well apart from sooting up one plug every run! Will have to look into that. 3rd qualifying run into a very stiff headwind after increasing the clutch spring pressure following Claire Rules startline observations, managed a 10.04 run at 126mph. Made it into the second round but unfortunately met an on point multiple class champ and bowed out. But pb elapsed time and 60 foot times point to a real chance of that 9 second run coming very soon. Back out in 2 weeks. 8 Quote
et1170 Posted April 21 Author Posted April 21 3rd qualifier at the Springspeed Nationals, santa pod, April 18th. Slight headwind and cool. Carl nailed a great run to trash his personal best and storm finally into the 9.s with a 9.75 @ 134mph. Very proud of him. The Quest for 9 seconds is over. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1HmGf6JRgc/ 6 Quote
