Spirit Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 I'm trying to find a source for standard-compression ratio pistons. I can't use the 12:1 or (God forbid) 13:1 ones since I live in a real world of variable climate and gasoline quality. No one I have seen sells aftermarket piston kits with lower than 12:1 compression. Anyone got a source for a set of NOS pistons or an aftermarket set of 10/11:1? Quote
Spirit Posted January 15, 2019 Author Posted January 15, 2019 Duckndive, that's real? Wow, first I heard of it, great catch. Same piston pins, rod end sizes, etc.? Quote
Duckndive Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 Stock bore Gen 1 Busa pistons are 20mm pin and will give you 1216cc ... most aftermarket piston company’s offer a few different comp ratios Quote
wraith Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 I thought the gen 1 Busa pistions where better to use with a turbo? Quote

Bow Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 Another option is SV650 pistons, 20mm pins, 81mm bore. easier to find than Busa, and a lot cheaper. turbo crew won’t use them as they are cast, not forged. 1 Quote
Spirit Posted January 16, 2019 Author Posted January 16, 2019 Turns out that MTC actually makes an aftermarket piston at 10:1 compression with a small overbore that's used for turbo applications. Bless those turbo guys. Quote
dupersunc Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 loads of people run 12:1 pistons on road bikes. Not a problem if set-up well. Quote

So you are essentially looking for stock Suzuki pistons ? Oil or water cooled, 600, 750 or 1100? Must be thousands lying around - i've got a couple of sets (GSXR 1100K) but can't say what condition they are in - probably need rings! Quote
Spirit Posted January 17, 2019 Author Posted January 17, 2019 Thanks all, but the MTC's will be my answer IF I need new pistons...hopefully just rings. Also, nota bene, around here 12:1 compression and locally available "gasoline" don't really mix well.... Quote
johnr Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 spacer under the block will cost you less than a set of pistons rings and a rebore. Quote
Oilyspanner Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Never found out for sure if it was a 748/749/1052 or 1127 engine, what state the engine's in etc ??? - thought the spacer idea was a good one, or take some timing out of it, add some octane booster …… maybe the engine had hi-comp pistons in it and had got 'nibbled' - hard to help with 1/4 the info though Quote
george 1100 Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 Spacer will lower comp and squish which will compound to lower hp.It's important to maintain squish even when lowering comp 1 Quote
