  3. Some great advice there. Hmm, let me do some more measuring. How do you guys deal with the swingarm chain guide? Relocate it or just remove the raised guide section?
  4. I've fitted a K8 1000 swingarm to my 91 7/11. Motor started out as a 1052 which I believe has a different countershaft to the 1127. Shorter I believe but correct me if I'm wrong. With the sprocket installed on the standard carrier, the alignment is a fair way off, say approx 20mm. I have a few ideas but am not real keen on a 20mm offset sprocket. I have a 13mm one and can take a max of 5mm off the carrier which leaves me out by 2mm. This then creates a problem with the chain guide which isn't so straight forward to move across 5mm Any ideas from anyone that's be down this road?

  6. The K8 1000 lends itself well for a slingshot swingarm conversion. Sort out the spacers keeping wheel alignment in mind. I found the shock mount had to be spaced out and raised so shock sit more vertical. This also closely replicates the K8 angles of shock, dog bones and knuckle. Rear sprocket carrier needs to be machined and also need an offset front sprocket. I'm running a 520 chain and found that a 2002 Gurls blouse XR650R works well

  9. 86 1100's don't have dogbones. You need a longer shock or an adjustable shock
  10. I saw that for sale and was tempted. Have one exactly the same that I restored and fitted an 1100 to. If you're not too fussed about hp keep the 750 but if you want more, don't waste your time, just fit an 1100. It has some go fast goodies there already that you could use on the 1100 also

  12. I'm pretty sure lump is the same on 1127 pistons so increasing the bore 2mm and keeping everything else constant,ie stroke,combustion chamber, gasket thickness,etc, will raise comp approx .5. If the only element changing is an increase in swept volume then compression increases. On the other hand, if the lump is different between the 76 and 78mm piston then it's a different story. You will need to measure pistons to know for sure. Suzuki spec for both engines is 10:1 . Something to think about.

  15. Do not use a mismatched pair even if crank spins. That doesn't mean your tolerances are correct. You may end up with low oil pressure or spun bearings. Don't go there
  16. I measured the 1052 head on my last build and it was bang on 26. Are you using fuel or water? Leaking through valves maybe? I put a smear of grease around the valves before measuring
  17. If you are going to bore out your 1052 block, imo not worth the exercise. By the time you pay for block machining, rings, 1127 pistons, gaskets, etc..... Better off getting a 1127 block (cheap) and 81mm kit. Will yield 1186, from memory, at not too much more cost. Difference, you will notice....You will need to bore your cases to fit, I've done it before with a dremel, easier than it looks
  18. Dot heads are 22cc From memory, busa dish is 10cc Also need to make an allowance for deck height 59 x 81 + dot head + busa pistons x 0.050" squish gives around 9.5-1.
