Pics are good, we like pics. Pics of Slingies are very good. Post pics of your Slingy in this thread. I'll start with mine. 750L with J bodywork, 1100 Powerscreen engine, L's 38mm carbs, 1100L stock exhaust, a nice sleeper, just how I like them.

Gsxr f 900 ignition advancer mod?

no matter how visible you are, people who don't look can not see you -
AC voltage should be measured between the outputs, 1-2 2-3 and 3-1. Around 80V @ 5000rpm sounds good. Then you can measure the resistances between the outputs (should be zero) and between each output and ground (should be infinite)

What steering dampers are people using on their slingys
Captain Chaos replied to Banditmac's topic in Oil Cooled
I agree with dupe. If the tyres/bearings are in good condition and the bikes geometry is more or less stock, no damper needed. 750L with 1100 engine here and not a single tankslapper has been had -

now that @Danish mentioned it, I remember what needs modifying on the EFE swinger for a 180 tyre. I knew I saw it somewhere before. -

I just remembered that the 180 tyre will fit with some slight modifications to the swingarm. Cut out some material from the inside (has no influence on the strength) and a 180 will fit. I never bothered though. And also, a Michelin 180 is wider than a Pirelli 180 for example. -

Ah ok, I have the oilcooled float levels in my head. Are the spark plugs new / good?
-
float level should be around 2mm lower than standard, I would guess it's way too low now.

I have a Powerscreen engine in the EFE, with Slingy 750 loom, and EFE clocks. I got the tacho, fuel level, gear position, and the idiot lights (Neutral, Left turn, Right turn, Oil P, High beam) working. I could also get the sidestand light working but there's no sidestand switch on my bike. ET/EX has a mechanical tacho so you will not get that working with an oilcooled lump. ED (1983) and newer has an electronic tacho IIRC.

180 rear tyre will not fit in EFE swingarm, widest I've had in was a 5,5" rim with 160 tyre or 170 depending on manufacturer. -

that' normal, it's the hottest part of the engine when it's running. Install the temp sensor somewhere in the sump and it will show the oil temp.
-
This +1. Riding till it gets thoroughly warm will 99% sure fix it.
