  1. Can You share more info regarding the BST setup? I have a stock GSX100F engine (130bhp) and have serious issues with setting up the "cruising" fueling (top end is perfect). It's extremely rich when at a minimum throttle at low revs... Also thinking about Mikuni RS36, but would like give it one more try with the CV carbs. Can You write more about Your tuning experience of the BST carbs
  2. they look exactly like mine (GSX750S) coils... i measured mine a week ago... I have exactly 30k ohms on both. (on the other side 5 ohm... ) so Yours are out of specs. But I have no idea is this really bad:)
  3. well deserved interest Im happy to post this kind of personal builds to stay forever in search engines and get more recognition:)
  4. I just ordered these: https://pl.aliexpress.com/item/7x6-LED-Headlights-H4-Light-For-Suzuki-Katana-750-1000-and-the-1100/32801481585.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.0.WnqrAY For testing. Probably will add me some points on a Cafe Racer exhibition - I don't know if I'll be using these for riding though. Will see. I wanted to order clear glass ones, but the looked really poorly made + they didn't have an E-mark. If Katana wont look good with it - I can install it in my ZRX, what a coincidence EDIT: nope. I cancelled. Took a closer look on the picture of Katana with this headlight in place - it's too round. It doesn't fit good enough.
  5. Motul - semi synthetic I think... I need to check when in garage. I bought 3 different oils for 3 motorcycles the same time. so I don't recall which one exactly went for Katana. But it's a viscosity recommended to this engine. What You write is reassuring. I still didn't have a chance to ride it properly and worm it up, as its still extremely lean. and on Idle it hardly worms up So I still have hope that this will fix itself once I let the engine breathe a little.
  6. it does but: 1. condensation dissapears faster 2. it really bites the eyes, and smells like oil... 50% sure!
  7. this thing doesn't let me sleep It starts 30 seconds? after starting the engine... compression is fine. the engine is working really nicely. no smoke of any kind from exhaust... WTF! what can be burning oil inside the engine? alternator? oil pump?
  8. HI, Please share a jet config You run on those KNs (stock vs mods)
  9. still "smoking" and... it bites the eyes when You look close to the breather pipe... its definitely burned oil (cos what else?)... Still have some hope left, that once the engine gets to working temp - it will go away... as there is nothing wrong with the way it works... unfortunately I didn't have a chance to ride the bike for more than 5 min yet (today I went for a ride testing new carb setup for 2km), as it's extremely lean right now on 1/2 throttle - I didn't want to fight with it... once this is sorted - I'm going for a first - proper ride...
  10. hey! looks like we are starting a fashion here on this grey structured paint jobs
  11. and are You sure that the rod in the engine cover isn't giving You any uneccesary resistance? does it work light? bearings fresh?
  12. which throttle cables did You use? any standard ones? from GSX-R? I'm planning to do the same conversion (as I have the mikuni BSR36 to try on with Katana), just considering if the length will be sufficient from GSXR.
  13. floats set. float needles checked (they are new - together with needle jets (emulsion tubes)). valve clearances i did correct before starting the engine so no mileage since then. ofc not. took it out, and put a new screw. But as for today - Long story for me, but not so long for this forum But it was definitely a carb issue. There is significant improvement after last inspection/cleaning. I don't know what was it that I did 2 days ago, but it worked. Yesterday the bike started on choke nicely, got worm and after quick adjustment of mixture screws - it runs very nice on idle now. Revs nice, stays on RPM. Reacts to disconnecting the plugs. So it's stable now... Still chokes on 1/2 throttle. but it's an improvement. Ill keep this post updated Next step I'll change the main jet and rise the needle a little. As it's now running lean on acceleration - I'll also take off few discs from exhaust. Also new Slingshot carbs just came Yey.
  14. Too bad. I had this conversion on the list as I also find the clutch to work very badly. I had a GSX1200 Inazuma with hydraulic clutch- it was perfect. Now I switch from ZRX1200R (also hydraulic) to GSX750S, and the difference is very big. I did all I could after putting the GSX750S together to make the clutch work as light as possible (disasembled the shaft in the engine cover, put new bearings, made sure it's super light, oiled the clutch cable). It turned out that it makes a big difference if the handlebar is straight and turned left (when on stand). So that's a plus - during riding, it's not that bad... but in line splitting and heavy traffic, I already know that the hand will be tired quickly:) Looking forward for new details if You figure something out.
  15. Hi, Second issue on the table... My GSX750S doesnt run right. First started - carb setup (original = carbs just cleaned and inspected. Main jet - stock. Pilot jets changed as 1 was badly damaged (but the size original) . 1 mixture screw changed as it had a broken tip. etc - carbs after "rebuild". Running rich on idle. And doesn't rev when half throttle during cruise (IMHO also rich). So I lowered the needle. But during some testing - turned out that 1st cylinder is not working on idle (taking the coil wire of the sparkplug - doesn't do anything). The other 3 when tested - make the engine stumble. All sparkplugs seem to be rich. So I changed the sparkplugs (new ones). And tested again. 1st sparkplug completely clean. the rest - rich. So I changed the wires - 1 and 4. Nothing changes - still first cylinder not right. (wires not guilty). Tested the resistance in coils - 100% fine values (so it's not the coils). Tested the spark when cranking - blue spark, regular (seems fine). Checked the compression (fairly worm engine) - all cylinders nice 9,5-10. Oil doesn't smell like fuel. Checked if there is fuel in the bowl - all carbs have fuel (around 60-65 ml each). Synchronized the carbs - result was fine (before sync it wasn't very bad, after was way better). Tested for air leak (as the idle is not as stable as I would like and needs corrections) - but no leaks found. When adjusting this first mixture screw (turning out) - exhaust starts to pop, so there is some feedback. Opened the carbs once again yesterday (switched airjets, tried to blow some more air into carb holes etc - blind shots on what can it be). My next step will be: 1. trying some engine starter spray straight into the first carb. To see if the engine reacts to "fuel". 2. To Switch the wires again (4 with 1) to check if I missed something. 3. Changing the wires and spark plug "connector" to new (blind shot)... 4. Putting on the BSR36 Mikuni Carbs from GSXR (slingshots) to confirm that the reason is in the carbs (waiting for the courier, I bought a set from a guy who took them from his Bandit as he's switching to 40's). - biggest hopes here... But what else can this be? Airleak on the butterfly throttle valve axle?
