harris steering head bearing cup removal from frame
clivegto replied to baldrick's topic in Trick Frames
That's bad luck, the ring of mig weld didn't do that to my one. -

Got my last engine vapour blasted then got Brian McCall of centurion motorcycle projects to paint it with his special paint, it's the same stuff they use on helicopter engines.

Got the 525 44 tooth back sprocket and the 525 chain turned up as well. Set about whittling the 530 17 tooth offset sprocket down to 525, end result came out alright.

Won't lie it wasn't easy. Dave Dunlop or Pete Field would probably make you some up.

Yes, I made these jus using a mig and angle grinder. Not the prettiest but will do the job and you get the satisfaction knowing you made them yourself.

Think @Fazz711found one.

To make a bit more room I took another 1.5mm of the k9 sprocket carrier and 1.5mm of the front sprocket spacor. Loads more room now lol, still doing the 525 chain conversion though.

Thanks bud, just need to put the rest of it back together and make loom up easy

530 chain is quite close to the frame so have ordered 525 chain and 44 tooth back sprocket. Will wiz 1.68mm off the stepped 17 tooth 530 one to make it into a 525. This gearing should give me a top speed of 196.8mph at 10000 revs which is more about loading the engine and turbo not so much about going that fast

Yes I don't like them as after removing and refitting them a few times they tend to round off.

Made some little spacors for shoulder bolts to secure the fro t mudguard and cleaned up the bolts in the lathe. Have a choice of 3 sets of discs gsxr, galfer or brembo, fitted the brembo ones as they are in the best condition and are the largest. Calipers on with some 5mm spacors.

Got a little time tonight to fit the quick release adjustable Harris superbike yokes and gsxr 1000k5 forks. Couldn't resist fitting the front mudguard for a look see.
