  1. The exhuast valves deal with more heat than the inlets do. More heat=more expansion=larger clearances.
  2. I agree. The first pic you can see the breather vent pipe (between 2 and 3) for the diaphragm/cap areas. Only ever seen that extra breather circuit on the 40's.
  3. Should be handy enough to put the arms back to work. If you can get out the m4 screws and put in new rods (old coat hanger wire), you should be back in action.
  4. Don't know about the brass on overflow. Probably it is what it is, an overflow. Just another circuit, maybe nothing to do with accelerator circuit.
  5. Hi Rick. The 2 white plastic arms you see on outside between carbs are hammers for the accelerator rods. Flatside don't like being snapped open really fast. They take a big gulp of air as a result which would cause the bike the stumble. To counter act the gulp of air, extra fuel is needed. If you snap the throttle fast, the arms hit the accelerator rods downwards which in turn hit the 2 pistons down in the float bowls. The 2 pistons getting pushed down put pressure on the accelerator circuit (which is full of fuel) The only openings on this circuit is the tiny hole on the top of each of the 4 accelerator pump nozzles which squirt out a spray of fuel as a result. If you take off the 4 bowls but keep them connected by the tubes that run between the bowls, you should see 2 bowls have pistons and 2 that don't. Put 2 fingers over the empty holes. Now quickly press down one of the pistons, the other piston should pop out and vice-versa. This shows its a pressurized system when the two holes are blanked off.
  6. Er, no. See the pick up point at 9 o'clock position (on the left in pic)? You line the T mark up with this. When I said middle, I meant middle of the metal tab on that particular pick up point.
  7. The line mark beside the T should be lined up with the middle of the point at 9 O'clock.
  8. These any good to you? They're what I have on file on the p.c. If you need more detailed stuff, I can scan more clearer images tomorrow.

    Stateside meet ups

You probably do, but it's hard to see them as sports bikes when they're stretched'n'slammed with a wagon wheel up front.

    Stateside meet ups

Welcome to O.S.S. Although this site has members from all over the world, a majority of them are European based. There are a handful of members from the U.S. on here but you would probably be better off asking on more local bike social sites to find out about meet ups and bike runs in your area.
  11. Could be your float heights set to low. Not enough fuel being feed to the bowls at higher revs.
  12. Think he's a member on here if I'm not mistaken. @1260Pete1
  13. Different again! This is the version I used. As said they have different variants. Akra might have one type for banana arm and another for braced arm w/c models(?) Either that or there's a choice of 4-1 and 4-2-1 for the same application(?) I liked the way the ones I used were tight to the frame as gappy systems are a pet hate of mine.
  14. I have a w/c Akrapovic system on a slingshot I'm building. Was a better looking fit than the oil cooled Akrapovic system! Didn't need to change sump. Only mod done was I had to do was turn down the heads slightly on the two bolts for the cross brace of the removable cradle as they just about touched downpipe no.3 @bluedog59 Have you any pics of the Akra system? I find with Akrapovic that a few different versions of designs for the same application. I own 4 different Akra systems. In the pic, left gsxr 1100 o/c, middle gsxr 1100 w/c 4-1, and right bandit 1200 4-1.
  15. White mirrors with that year and colour scheme.
  16. Should that not be Harri, as in sounds like Har-eye for plural?
  17. Easy to have one slip popping the cover back on. Also check that you torqued/tightened the four union bolts on the top of the rocker cover. They'll piss oil at hand tight. Something similar happened to me a good few years back. I was fairly moving it when I copped the oil light come on. Shut it down straight away! As bike was coming to a stop I saw oil spraying HEAVILY from the the side of the engine. My whole left leg and the side of the bike drowned in oil. Turned out to be the m8 side plug bolt (no.9) on the rocker cover had worked its way loose and had escaped.
  18. @TWISTONIt's been covered a few times on here about fitting an oiler in a water boiler. Plenty of reading. And this is close as it involve the 750 frame
  19. Yes they're interchangeable. The bandit 12 slave cylinder piston has a blind hole that the push rod sits in. The gsxr piston doesn't so has a slightly shorter push rod than the 1200 one. You will have to piss around push rods lengths to get the clutch spot on.
