chain run . . . again !

If you buy a laser spirit level from a DIY shop, you'll get almost the same thing at a fraction of the cost. As soon as something is marketed for a 'specialist' useage, up goes the price. If it's being m,arketed as a special tool for chain alignment then you'll be paying heavily for the bullshit marketing.

It dont fit

Oh it will fit,and it'll look great as well ! There's always a way, currently seeing what we need to do with it,I'm fortunate in that my wheels have removable hubs,so if need be a new hub will be made and any frame chopping mods will be done if we need to,the things we do to satisfy our biking needs! Lol

Looking mint mate , thinking about off setting the wheel 5 mm but still not sure about front sprocket  solution ? If you have a brain wave before me gissa shout.

See you still not got the clocks in the pod O.o

Got ET and EFE clock pods to play with,at the moment it looks like the ET ones will go on and then fit the EFE ones later,I have a couple of spare headlamp cowls to play with,EFE ones won't fit at the moment because of the ignition mount on the top yoke,a new yoke will be made at some point to eliminate the mount, but for now I need to sort the rear wheel and then FBM has to make a new turbo kit for it. I'm trying to not use an offset front sprocket unless I have to.

Surely your simplest solution is to use an offset front sprocket and channel the frame for the chain run if you need to?

Air cooled frame ,gsxr motor and 180 rear

Been done to death ,I must be missing something

As far as know offset fronts start with 16 teeth ,already running 44 rear

if its an oil boiler motor and a slingy rear wheel you don't need an offset front sprocket....but you may need to notch the frame ( especially if you're using string )

Lol slabby motor with 180 rear , slabbys ran 150 I think originally so front sprocket doesn't sit as far out as a slingshot

Loads of slabbies running 180 rear so was wondering what the solution was back in the day?

tyre size is irrelevant for sprocket alignment here

all depends how the motor swap was done ....... centered in the frame  or slightly offset?....front / rear wheel alignment?......I've done a few of these in the late 80's early 90's and even with the 530 chain conversion / gs 6 bolt hub (machined or not) flipped sprocket ....yada yada yada / 5.5 gsxr 7/11 wheel...... chain always made contact (slight) with the 180 tire (depending on brand) and always seem to rub (slightly) on the inner frame ....even with the flipped link .

Think it is vis

1127 motors ran the sprocket further out

Anyway seeing as getting nowhere here would it matter if I offset the rear wheel 5 mm ?

Bandits and later slingshots had a wider spacer behind the front sprocket. If run a 180 tyre , especially a 60 profile, the chain will be fucking close to the tyre even on a stock slingshot.

I run both Slabbies and Slingshot 750s currently both running 1127 motors and 5.5" slingshot rears. I run 180/60 supercorsas on them, the chain is very close on one side, and the torque arm on the other.  A 525 chain rubs a little in use, the 520 chain on the slabbie just clears.  I run 14/48 gearing, good for 155mph at 10500rpm. Which is perfect for a stockish 1127 motor.

That's why I asked x

well with you having a similar set up on the other bike..... also depends on what rear make 180 you're using, because ive ran 180 rears on slabby 750s with no mods to the front  sprockets close but not touching

Just measured up a couple of sprocket spacers. 750jk (4.5" rear)  17.5mm,   1100L  19.66mm,  Bandit 1200  19.00mm

Had the motor 15 years and doesn't have a spacer behind it as far as I know but will have a look ,thanks for the input
