McCoy Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Does anyone know if there is a slipper clutch available for a 1989 GSXR 750? I've been searching for hours and haven't found a thing. Quote
Gixer1460 Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 You've probably found your answer - they weren't a thing back in the days when these were race bikes and as not really competitive now, no one is likely to gear up to design and make a batch to sell maybe a couple? Quote
davecara Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 (edited) They seem to be available for the 1100 so its clear to see that some development has been done. @Markz9 was looking into this a while back if i remeber right? Edited August 17, 2021 by davecara Quote
370steve Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 (edited) sigma make one for the GSXR750/1100 and also fits the SRAD, they also fit the Bandit (PS i have the one in the pic for sale with new plates and springs, never used) Edited August 17, 2021 by 370steve 2 Quote
McCoy Posted August 17, 2021 Author Posted August 17, 2021 (edited) 370steve, does the one you have for sale fit the 89 gsxr750? Edited August 17, 2021 by McCoy 1 Quote
Gixer1460 Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 I stand corrected - DOH! I was aware of the reworked GSXR1000 units - maybe I just don't get the benefits ? Quote

Okay, thanks. I have already reached out to Sigma and a couple others and I am waiting for replies. 1 Quote
dupersunc Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Don't think any parts are interchangeable between 750 and 1100 clutches. You'll have to fit an 1100 motor... 2 Quote
jonny1bump Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 The 750 is bigger diameter but smaller pack, totally different. 1 Quote
colinworth79 Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 Plates are not interchangeable between bandit and gsxr . Bandit has the 10 big tags onto the basket and gsxr has a lot more smaller ones . Quote
Reinhoud Posted August 22, 2021 Posted August 22, 2021 May I ask a (probably dumb) question? What's exactly a slipper clutch? Is it a clutch without a clutch lever what engages when the revs go up? 1 Quote

It prevents the back wheel from locking up via compression locking when changing down through the gears quickly. Uses ramp plates to lift the cover plate slightly to allow the clutch to slip. Common place on 4t race bikes for the last 30years. 3 Quote
