Ibbo Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 When I zoom in it goes fuzzy. Can you get a higher res pic on? Quote
dago Posted January 18, 2020 Author Posted January 18, 2020 (edited) try these , i'm thinking gear shifter but can't find any thing in my spares that look the same, the hole goes right through, hard to say what shape it was. Gears shifting ok, no jumping out of gear Edited January 19, 2020 by dago Quote
Sheep Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Yeh,Looks a little like the gear shift pin...did you find a spring in there too?? Quote
dago Posted January 18, 2020 Author Posted January 18, 2020 (edited) the end of it looks like it sheared off something, though hard to tell as well chewed, it looks like it used to be square? it's solid apart from what looks like a small oil way through it. no spring. why do they make the sump filter screen non removeable pain to clean properly Edited January 19, 2020 by dago Quote
BigT Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 The only magnetic piece in the motor should be the magnet on the oil drain plug Quote

dago Posted January 20, 2020 Author Posted January 20, 2020 I did mean made of steel, been through the manual, and alpha sports but can't find anything that resembles it Quote
Blubber Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 At some angles it looks to be the remains of a bleed nipple , like the one you use on your brake or clutch. - Do the dimension kinda fit when comparing it to a bleed nipple? 2 Quote
dago Posted January 20, 2020 Author Posted January 20, 2020 (edited) The booble bit on the top is too small for that, but cheers for the suggestion keep them coming, don't won't to strip it down as too cold out & it's used daily Edited January 20, 2020 by dago Quote
Dezza Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 Do you have small children still (going by your pic)? One could have picked this item up and placed it somewhere it shouldn't go, like the open oil filler when daddy is doing an oil change on his great big motorbike Quote
Blubber Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 A diy outer cable clutch / gas cable thingy? Quote
Sheep Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 (edited) Not exactly the same size but similar...push pin from the starter clutch (Or an oil restrictor pill?) Edited January 20, 2020 by Sheep Quote

We all make mistakes! (don't ask, LOL). Quote
dago Posted January 31, 2020 Author Posted January 31, 2020 They were all found, didn't quite punch through the outer bit, sort of like a hanging chad. Didn't look like anything from there had it apart enough time hence the over £200 on compete new after a few second hand ones and replacement rollers ect. Cheers for the reply though Quote

My first bike was a XV750 (Y-brand). The starter to ring-gear engagement design caused steel shavings to come loose inside the crankcase. Instead of coming up with a better design; the engine came from the factory with a magnet installed just below where the shavings were coming off. Quote

BigT Posted February 6, 2020 Posted February 6, 2020 True, but if the rotor came apart, it wouldn't be in nice round bits. Plus, that would likely lock up the crank due to all the debris stuck in the rotor/stator Quote
johnr Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 I know, I'm just saying that the oil drain plug isn't the only magnetic component in there. I think you'd definitely know about it if it went south! Quote
