ElVikingoTropical Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 (edited) Hi I have just bought my first Suzuki in 35 years (My last one was a Katana 1100 at eighteen) The bike has been kept at a storage close to the sea in the harbour at Gran Canaria for 12 years and is very rusty.. The good thing is that I have time, space and enough skills to take care of this little bike, but one thing's for sure its wont be done in a couple of weekends Edited June 5, 2019 by ElVikingoTropical 8 Quote

Good luck with the build. Not my warehouse but close to my office, I saw the bike there and I needed + one year to convince the previous owner to sell it to me... This bike have came with some surprises, one of them was that it had a squatter, Now officially i have a say what now!? rat look........ 3 Quote
ElVikingoTropical Posted June 5, 2019 Author Posted June 5, 2019 All discovers isn’t so bad in this bike, I just found out that it’s equipped with a Öhlins at rear 1 Quote
Dezza Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Maybe Basil was the last owner but one and simply lost the will to live. Good luck with the re-build! Quote
ElVikingoTropical Posted June 5, 2019 Author Posted June 5, 2019 As I’m “new” with say what now!? I need some advices! My engine needs to be pulled down and a friend of mine has a 1100cc oil cooled engine that I can take, the idea is to keep and rebuild OEM unit using another on during the prose. Can I fit in a 1100 engine in this chassis without cutting or welding? Quote
Swiss Toni Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Yes, it'll go straight in. Common upgrade. You'll get a lot of satisfaction rescuing that from the scrap man when it's finished! Good luck with the build, and welcome to OSS! Quote

Askamaskinservice Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Welcome to OSS, this is a ratbike if there ever was one. Hopefully you will resurect it to it's full potential. Hasse from Sweden. Quote
no class Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 welcome aboard ...... Start by soaking every nut and bolt with penetrant..... axles and pivot bolt...... repeat process every day for a month and maybe you will get away without snapping any fastenersand possibly get the pivot bolt out of the swinger . good luck with the resurection Quote
Swiss Toni Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 All of the above ... very good advice! Pay particular attention to the exhaust flange bolts at the head. Prone to snapping, so tread carefully! Quote
ElVikingoTropical Posted June 6, 2019 Author Posted June 6, 2019 Holy shit... Take this to part alone is really heavy, my back didn't like it. Next step is blasting, cleaning, scratching, bleeding...... 4 Quote
