  1. I shall be trying this on my Slingshot build. I agree on the solid front mounts Anything plastic will melt. @maxwinhave you got any FEA. Screen grabs with the bracing added. It would be interesting to see how the stresses are distributed too once the bracing is added.
  2. Awesome stuff Ben. Really like the analysis on the frame. The twisting of the lower front rails is paricularly interesting . Explains the issues I've been having.
  3. Rod ends and spherical bearings are virtually all imperial due to the fact that 99% of them are designed and produced for the American aviation industry. Metric variants are fucking expensive.
  4. WTF did I sell my Katana project.
  5. Just needs tyres and stickers and she's ready for the 2018 season.
  6. The originals were made from glass fibre sheet weren't they? That's what I'll be making mine from. There is a drawing kicking about on line. Not sure how accurate it is though
  7. Hopefully you can see the numbers. These fit 41mm FCRs as 39mms are for Gheyers.
  8. I have pretty much the same set-up Rene. I have no issue the traction or when I'm on the gas. See no reason to brace the arm. Yet.
  9. Normal. J/k frames were different to L/M frames. The M frame has a wider subframe too, which is the only thing that might be an issue.
  10. Gotcha. So the short F arm is the arm of choice at the TT?
  11. Some Japanese and North American market 750s had the hump top tank. No one seems really what was fitted to what.
  12. The thought has occured to me. The 1100 has a shorter frame too.
  13. Yeah, that's my thought. I need to get a shorter chain sorted and back to back them.
  14. I'm seeking affirmation from the similarly afflicted...
  15. Anyone run the Short GSXR 750F swing arm on a Slabbie on track? I've just acquired one, and I'm looking at trying it on my 7/11 race bike. Now I know the history, and supposedly the GSXR 750F was a widow maker, hence the longer arm on the G and H models. However tyres have changed in all but colour and shape in the last 30years. I'm hoping shorter wheel base, and a little more rear weight bias would help turn the bike quicker and help my front end problems. Anyone gone down this route? Or am I mad?
  16. Bring the Wheels down Jay and we'll have a proper look.
  17. I'm hoping to make the trackday, this year. Your very welcome to share my slabbie Rene.
  18. Anyway. @Mole28 sorry for the derail. We need more pictures of your bikes please.
  19. Yeah I know. An ex wsb racer I know raced a very trick 1216cc 750rk at snettterton around 10 years ago. He reported similar issues to what I'm having. Slingshot frame is already heavier. It all points to the fundamental architecture of Oil cooled frames being wrong for modern tyres. But I've got the parts to build 7/12 slingshot race bike so I'll see how they compare. After market frames aren't on the radar unless someone has a Motomartin or Harris F1 frame the want to sell me for £500. That said i have got a decent frame jig I built a few years back....
  20. I run JMT Lithium ion in all my bikes now. Had one for 6 years now. They're direct swap, no mods to the bike other than modifying the battery tray, and they don't cost much more than a regular lead acid battery. I personally wouldn't use anything else now.
  21. Yeah, tyres have very much surpassd the chassis. Time to go for something more modern.... .... now gathering parts to build a Slingshot race bike.
