CockneyRick Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 (edited) So what are the differences? TBH i want the smallest, with least add ons. Just a basic tank for the drag bike. I may even have it already? Edited January 4, 2018 by CockneyRick Quote
R1guy Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 (edited) Think this is a 750 one on mine...?! Looks flatter on top. Edited January 4, 2018 by R1guy 1 Quote
CockneyRick Posted January 4, 2018 Author Posted January 4, 2018 Yep mine looks a bit taller. Doesn't have a sender tho which i thought were only on the 11 tanks? Quote
R1guy Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 I'll admit , the whole slabside tank thing confuses me somewhat 1 Quote
dupersunc Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Some Japanese and North American market 750s had the hump top tank. No one seems really what was fitted to what. Quote
Leblowski Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 If i am correct you have the 86 87 tank, the 85 tank is flat top and smaller. Quote

banoffee Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Mine is 750G JDM, think it has the flat top you are referring to. However has (or rather had as got rid of it) the fuel sender mounting underneath. Quote
Swiss Toni Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 (edited) This is '85 F model, JDM. It too, has (had) a fuel gauge sender Edited January 4, 2018 by Swiss Toni Quote

KATANAMANGLER Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 My 1100 G had a flat tank. It was an 1100 tank with wider spacing between centres on the fuel tap mounts. The tap was in the correct position for the 1100 cross beam on the frame too. I have an 1100 humped tank now. Last year I used a 750 flat tank on the 1100 frame and fhe fuel tap position is a ball ache. It either fouls the oil feed bosses on the back of the head or it fouls the frame cross spar. I ended up running a a simple U- bend and an inline tap. So in short the 1100 had both flat and humped tanks. The tap mounting boss centres will tell you what you have. The 1100 is wider between centres 42mm or something like that and the 750 is 35mm or there abouts. For the 1100 frame get an 1100 tank if you can. Quote
CockneyRick Posted January 6, 2018 Author Posted January 6, 2018 Not thought it out tbh, the tank i have (1100 humped) is a 45mm spacing & it has been modded at the rear mount to attach to the Z750 subby! So unless i start more modding on another tank, i best stick with this one Quote
wraith Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 I've seen people put slingshot tanks on slabs. Quote
clivegto Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 The one on my NWS framed slabby is not so common it is flat topped but is risen up around the fuel filler cap, it has 45mm rough measurment of the tap. I bought a brand new 1100 tap for it. 2 Quote
Nik Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 (edited) My experience, after dozens of slabbies through the years: Slabbies had either the small/flat 5 gallon tank (as seen on R1guy's, banoffee's and Swiss Toni's photos above) or the taller 5.5 gallon tank (as seen on CockneyRick's photo above). Many (most?) markets got the small tanks in 1985 AND 1986, on both 750s and 1100s, but some markets, e.g. the U.K.and the U.S. got the taller 5.5 gallon tank in 1986 (not sure if it was implemented from the beginning of the model year or if it changed during 1986). Concerning fuel taps: 1985 tanks had a non-vacuum tap, with narrow spacing between the tap holes.1986 and 1987 tanks (750s and 1100s) all had vacuum taps (which were larger) with bigger spacing between the holes. Location of the vacuum taps may be different between 750s and 1100s. Edited January 10, 2018 by Nik 4 Quote
