Rene EFE Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 I bought a watercooled bike. WELL out of my comfortzone, but it was too cheap to pass up, and I have been looking at a cheap/fast commuter for a while so I could concentrate on the big bikes. This fits that bill quite well. RF600 with SRAD-750 everything, including the engine. Carbs need a cleanup and the intake from the airbox needs fixing. Forkseals are weeping a bit and it could do with a better rear tire, but for 250e, you can't really complain, can you? Working on the carbs right now; VERY different from what I'm used to. Is there anywhere where I can find some info on the original system? 1 Quote

Rene EFE Posted January 14, 2017 Author Posted January 14, 2017 But what goes first; the tea, or the milk? Quote
banoffee Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 The tea bag should never meet the milk. Quote

bluedog59 Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 Getting back on topic and ignoring snips from uninterested people, what are you plans for it ? Fix the details and run it as a daily stocker or get the spanners out ? The RF can be a bit of a super sleeper under all that plastic and "Marmite" looks. Quote
gsx Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 Should be a right weapon with 750 srad motor . Had a standard one ,bonkers! Quote

Fix up whatever's wrong with it and improve some things I don't agree with; loom, cablerouting, etc. This bike will be the commuter/shophack/tharsher Quote
badgerkdd Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 I like the stealth aspect of an Srad engine in a Rf body, excellent find . Luckily there is a Haynes manual for the Carbed Srad, best place for general info on standard set ups etc. Otherwise just ask, if and when you run into unfamiliar territory, but tbh a man of your calibre shouldn't have any difficulties playing about with this one. Rene EFE Posted January 15, 2017 Author Posted January 15, 2017 Found some more info, courtesy of @Jelly; https://web.archive.org/web/20050831165146/http://www.teamsuzuki.nl/projectr.htm A lot of Dutch nonsense but also; "Tuned engine", Get in! Found an emailadres of the original builder so sent him a message and waiting to hear back. A friend who's seen it in its prime has stated; it was VERY fast. Quote

Pity the photos are gone - would be interesting to see what mods were needed to fit the SRAD motor. Quote
MrS819 Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Looks great. Sort it and ride it. Would like to know the mods to fit the swing arm. Quote Quote

Jelly Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Very special airbox design it had also, with some oldskool plumbing! 2 Quote
skelly Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Blimey,,,, that 'airbox'.. I rekon you could get it to run better with an air tray which essentially uses the bottom of the tank as the top of the airbox.. I'll find some pics of my SRAD600 racebike so you have an idea of how I did mine. It worked a treat and picked up 12lbft @ 8k. Skel.. Quote
Rene EFE Posted January 17, 2017 Author Posted January 17, 2017 I'll get a SRAD airbox and see if I can get that mated to the RF-box. Reading the projectblog, it was built that way at first anyway. Did you use the stock inletrubbers @skelly? Quote
skelly Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Here is a photo of my 'airtray' on my dry bike. As you can see the tank seals around it. The only rubbers I use are the inlet ones on the head. These poke through the bottom of the tray and are a snug fit. Skel. 3 Quote
Rene EFE Posted January 17, 2017 Author Posted January 17, 2017 Hmm, I wonder if it would run right if I do wihout whatever's on it now. Are the orange stacks original? Quote
