clivegto Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 (edited) Took the dummy mock up motor out, made some stainless engine bolts up by shortening longer ones & re-threading them. Fitted the supper finished motor bolted it up tight just to check it all fits OK. Edited March 7, 2020 by clivegto 2 Quote
Dezza Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 I still have the stock front engine mounting bolt as supplied by Harris and it's a single really long bolt. I can't remember off-hand whether the oil cooled motor allows this though.... Quote

clivegto Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 Decided not to use the acetal lock stops that bolt to the forks. Started whittling a bit of scrap alloy to bolt onto the existing bracket on the bottom of the headstock. There already were 2 m6 holes in the Harris super bike yoke, drilled & tapped them out to m8. clivegto Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 Am happy with the result, front bit still needs trimming & shaping. Quote
clivegto Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 Harris super bike yoke came with tapered or conical bolts which I like the look of & I suppose it they are all like that on the bike it's a weight saving programme as well. After a couple of hours on the lathe I had another 16 of them. Gave them a little polish up in the battery drill & some green scotchbrite. 2 Quote
bluedog59 Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 I presume that is just a "sample" pic of them and washers will be added later. Quote

clivegto Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Machined up another 18 Allen head bolts on the lathe to a conical shape like I did the others, polished them up as well. These ones are for the carb rubbers & the sprocket case. Have spaced the gear linkage out to clear the rear set bracket with the twisty splined bit I got from @wraithas well as a little spacor I made. 3 Quote

Wouldn't a kinky rod give a more positive change as then the spacer becomes redundant? 1 Quote

Maybe will see how this works first. Thinking about it a kinyey rod may have more flex. Edited March 18, 2020 by clivegto Quote
clivegto Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Found some b12 airbox rubbers in my stash of bits so am going to use these instead of the alloy pipe. I know Dave Dunlop likes to use these on his kits if he can get hold of them so seems daft not to use them. 3 Quote
clivegto Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 Shaped another 14 alen head bolts up for the 1127 sump. Put most of it together for a mockup, free wheeled down the ramp out of the shed (YEEEHAAA) to take some pictures. 5 Quote
Swirl Posted March 30, 2020 Author Posted March 30, 2020 Think I would like to see a 916 style seat back there Quote

clivegto Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 Only oil cooler I could get to fit is a Gsx600f cooler which will hold 250ml of oil. Planing on fitting a head cooler upfront as well, think I can squeeze A b12 cooler in behind the nose cone which holds 300ml of oil. This will give me more cool oil than I have on my Turbo Scratcher which has a 19 row extra wide cooler which works fine. So made a oil cooler bracket from some scrap steel that was kicking around in the yard. 3 Quote
clivegto Posted April 1, 2020 Posted April 1, 2020 Bit of lidle gloss black to stop the cooler bracket going rusty. 1 Quote
clivegto Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 Made a little bracket to fix the b12 oil cooler (for head cooler) to the back of head light/faring bracket. All rubber mounted like the standard setup. 5 Quote
clivegto Posted April 3, 2020 Posted April 3, 2020 (edited) Quite by chance I noticed that the Torques fittings I got for the cam cover fit the b12 head cooler Also have various an6 & an8 oil pipes knocking about, 4 m16xan8 adaptor fittings turned up in the post this week for the teapot 600 oil cooler & sump. Have ordered some 120 degree black fittings as well. Also drilled a few holes in the head cooler bottom mount. Edited April 3, 2020 by clivegto 4 Quote
