Kamikaze Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Hiya all, Just curious if anyone has tried replacing their bandit clutch with another model..? Im have trouble with burning out clutch plates on the B12 basket and need an alternative. Atm a Sigma or TSS slipper clutch is the way to go, but i want more surface area on my plates and less angle ramp Ive heard SRAD 600/750 fit, and someone tried a GSXR1000 K4, but cant seem to find much in that conversion. Anyone had any experience with it. cheers Quote
spiderpig Posted September 9 Posted September 9 I've a k3 600 clutch inner I'm planning sticking in a slingshot but not got around to it yet. Looks pretty straight forward. Quote
wraith Posted September 9 Posted September 9 I've got a gsxr600k4 inner hub goes straight in and convert's it to a conventional spring clutch instead of the diaphragm clutch in my b12 engine (ported DOT head, gsxr cams, 38mm CV carbs) all in the project pages thread gsx1157et 3 Quote

clivegto Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Yea @Bowis the expert on this. I'v fitted a gsxr600/750k3 iner clutch to a outer B12 clutch basket in my Spondon project. Makes it 5 coil spring and Gsxrsam makes a lock-up for it as well. 2 Quote
dupersunc Posted September 9 Posted September 9 SNT put a gsxr 1000 slipper in there xr69 replica. See if I can find some info. It wasnt simple. 1 Quote
george 1100 Posted September 9 Posted September 9 (edited) I tried a 2012 1000 clutch and it didn't fit. Conrod interfered with the basket(red arrow). Earlier model clutches look like they will work because the location of the basket reinforcement is in a different location and shouldn't collide with the rod. Apart from swapping over the ring gear, the rest looked straight forward Edited September 9 by george 1100 Quote
dupersunc Posted September 9 Posted September 9 If you read the other threads loosely related to this, during last years Classic TT we used a Sigma slipper clutch, however before ordering it we spoke to Neil Spalding to ask if it would work on the island, we told him our torque figures, he umed and arrred a bit then more or less said no, BUT if you can fit a K4 clutch to it it will deffo work, anyhow it didn't the clutch is what in the end let up down, don't get me wrong I'm not knocking it, it worked ok for about 40 laps at Oulton Park in test and may well work on a normal circuit but the TT course in not normal. So we now make our own billet basket, this utilises K9 internals and plates married to the Bandits primary, this is currently untested, but we think it will be a better solution, if we ever get let out of the gage again we can find out........... 1 Quote
