leldolini69 Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 Still struggling to source carbs so what are the best recommendations for my standard engine 1127 ? B12,flatslides etc ? Ta Quote
Joseph Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 It depends what you're looking for Originally BST40 People say BST38 give the best result for stock carbs Truth is, it's more or less possible to fit any of the 11R diameters, BST34 from a 1052 will give loads of torque downstairs, the 40s give HP upstairs. On my 1127 swapped GSX1100 i have been advised to put 34s with a small diameter header to create a beefy cruiser So, what do you plan to use the bike for ? Quote
leldolini69 Posted February 1, 2021 Author Posted February 1, 2021 It came with b6 carbs. It ran shite but didn't know about carbs till I took them off. Riding with 127bhp xjr 1300, so wanna be able to beat him lol. Mates a bragged but all in jest. Quote
TonyGee Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 why would somebody put 32mm carbs on a gsxr 1127 engine ???? they are fitted to inazuma 1200's but they arn't a race bike. 1200 bandit carbs will fit and more of them available second hand. Quote
leldolini69 Posted February 1, 2021 Author Posted February 1, 2021 Mk1 bandit carbs nearly as expensive as flatslides so was thinking of them ! Quote

Unless you can find a REALLY good stock set of mk1 Bindit 36's which will still need fettling to work with a GSXR, I'd personally get some 36mm RS flatslides - different to live with but great carbs and will give some power increase over stock. They cost but most good thing usually do! Quote

Maybe try a wanted ad on here when you reach the required post count. If you buy a secondhand set of carbs, then budget for new o'rings at least. I have never bought a secondhand set of carbs that did not need at least some work. Carb parts aren't cheap and costs can soon mount up as 4 of everything is needed. You can easily end up spending a fair wack, especially for RSs as parts are so expensive and the cost of a secondhand set of RSs + parts can soon get close to the cost of a new set from Trumpety-doo-dah-land. Swiss Toni Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 Allens Performance isn’t too bad, price wise for RS spares. Quote
Gixer1460 Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 And s/hand Flatties very rarely need the same attention as CV's as they tend to be cared for / lower use or mileage - well in my experience! Quote
leldolini69 Posted February 2, 2021 Author Posted February 2, 2021 I have been told that these are 38 mm off gsxr 750. Can anyone id. For 1127 engine Quote
Captain Chaos Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 post some decent pics and someone without a microscope might be able to tell 2 Quote
clivegto Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 These are bst38mm carbs. Can not tell what the ones are in the picture above. Quote

Dezza Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 Be careful when buying BST38s as the ones from the 750W will not fit due to the different spacings. The ones in the picture above posted by Clive look very like 750W carbs but they may be from a 750M. There are one or two bits of info on oil cooled carbs at the top of the oilcooled section. Quote
clivegto Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 @Dezzathere 750 oily one's, had them on a b12 with the correct carb rubbers. 1 Quote

Clive, do you have any jetting info on these carbs when fitted to a B12 engine? I ask as this will be the power-base for my next project . Quote

baldrick Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 750 m ones have a rubber tube from float bowl to intake at top of carb. the pic Clive posted, they dont look like they have the tube. these are the powerjet 38s im talking about here Quote
baldrick Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 the tubes are redundant unless you are running a standard airbox though,so they might have been removed and plugged, i dunno? theyneed the airbox,as it intake pressure at higher revs syphons some float boat fuel and dumps it in the intake, to put it as basically as possible, so without the negative pressure caused in the airbox at high revs, they wont work, not on k&N or ramair filters. the carbs will work fine without the airbox, so dont let that put you off if you can find a set, they are great carbs hope this makes sense. 1 Quote
