  1. The swing arm pivots on the same axis as the output shaft on pivots either side of the engine , which stops the compression and release of the rear suspension as power is applied and let off it's a great theoretical exercise to optimise handling, and in competition where times to a 100th of a second matter it could be the difference between winning and losing and as @clivegto points out means you don't need to run a slack chain to allow for the normal movement of a swing arm relative to the output shaft
  2. Glad you're able to document these jobs, when it's done and all shiney and pretty parked up at a show/pub/burger van meet folk will walk up look at it and never realise the hours of thought and work doing a hundred invisible jobs like these that it takes to create something special.

    Carb tops

@wraith , I'm not 100% but I'm thinking the 36mm carbs of the 88/89 750 slingshot with the dot head had lower carb tops to help with frame clearance and the dot head intake angle along with shorter intake boots....I'm thinking I saw this in dezza's carb rubber sticky ,have a look no promises I've got it right its early and not enough sleep Edit : it maybe MK1 750 teapot's....
  4. Italian tune up ...... Always worth a go , fun too
  5. T The image that @TonyGee provides is what I would likely do , I think triangulating (wether by tubes or gussets) the area as much as is feasable /reasonable to transfer the loads into other tubes is the best/safest way, I read that a inch of weld can hold a tonne of that is true then the 25mm bar stock the shock mounts are turned from have 3 inches of weld so much stronger than a straight frame tube and as @imago points out without triangulation/gussets it's going to try to twist the tube Edit: most any article I've ever seen on chassis/frame design, has used triangulation to spread loads through the chassis and create strength
  6. Martini, its too nice a bike to look like a scrap yard special....
  7. Even more he knows we want him to ..... What a tease
  8. When Mr Yoshimura moved the mounting point did the class rules require the bike to retain stock length shocks ? But make no mention of mounting location in the rule book ? Just a thought as to why ....

    Oversized pistons

Wossner are a quality pieces @Oilyspannerreplaced wiseco pistons I believe and thought them lighter and nearer to the original piston weight if i remember correctly,it in his build thread anyways if you want to double check
  10. Not 100% sure but most of these electronic things that get bypassed/deleted usually have a gizmo ( usually a resistor) to plug into the loom to cool the ecu into thinking the servo is still intact that would be first search
  11. Depends what the rear wheel is off as a srad600 had a different off set to oilcooled stuff , but std gearing for a bandit 12 is 15/45 ,for a gsxr1100 16/48 (effectively the same at 3:1) the gsx1100f being a fat old tourer designed to pull two trippers and a fortnights worth of luggage was 15/52 , probably the ideal combo is 15/48 just a bit peppier but not revving like 600
  12. The emulsion tube can wear oval , I've heard you can check using the shank ( not the fluted end !) Of a snug fitting drill to help see the wear ..... Worth a try before swapping them as they're about £20 each....
  13. Regarding the electrical bits'n'bobs , are you planning a box or something in the area immediately behind the headstock , I ask as it would be ideal for the could obviously, but it seems quite a visually large space ,especially compared with say harris mag4
  14. Trickness upon trickness on a very trick thing...... definitely worth two thumbs up.
  15. Agree with SiBag give the carbs a go over with good ( genuine) o rings etc dont use cheap ones that are the 'right size' as they leak as sure as eggs is eggs , no hard parts should be worn out at 4k . On another point check the intake rubbers and o rings are ok and put some oil/cam lube onto the cams and rockers before turning the engine over BY HAND to make sure no valves or such like has stuck open after 13 years bench test for leaks and balance ok till it's running then balance on bike as normal
  16. The torque is what makes a big engine fun, I know I don't have to explain that to you,I would ALWAYS take 10 ftlb of midrange over 10 bhp at the top end
  17. That's going to be a healthy deep breathing motor, that'll fly in that chassis I'm sure
  18. Life does indeed scupper our plans at times glad you are still about
  19. Hi Kay,do you actually want a spoked wheel at the rear ? Would you not want to match the front 3 spoke wheel ? If so go for a bandit wheel ,it'll fit the arm straight off then you'd just have to set up the chain run and you can choose from a 4.5/160 (600 bandit) or a 5.5/180 (1200 bandit)
  20. You can check it's mot and tax history online at DVLA if you know the reg still .....
  21. Yeah but at least you could have irn bru, tablet, deep fried mars bars , in Brussels what do they have? Chips with mayonnaise I mean both places have an indecipherable language but Scotland definitely wins on the food ..... clootie dumplings for the win
  22. Get down to wickes b&q screwfix etc etc and buy a few lengths of foam 15mm pipe insulation , the price of a couple of fancy coffees will get you enough I'm sure Ps that mono shock isn't blingy enough
  23. I'm thinking Tony is correct , and that as far as I know the only oilcooled bikes with 34mm carbs are the 1052 GSXR and the 1127 GSX F power screen ...... I wait with bated breath to be corrected ...
