  1. That's the thing plenty of metal in the frame but is it stiffer than a bandit , it looks it to me ,but I was curious to hear from those who have track dayed them to see, like you say cheap too tha kan tell thys from Yorkshire al reyt
  2. Whilst following @wraith hellcat build it came to light about the braces across the frame and this set me to wondering if the teapot frames are noticeably stiffer than a bandit frame for track day use, see @DezzaOSS race series in general chat, or even fast road use I know @fatblokeonbanditbuilt one for track use as did @teapot I know everyone will say get a gsxr, but this is just a question that popped to mind,I did own a 'boons arse 600 once as a hack for a short while but never really touched it anyway opinions / abuse welcome pics from @Omegasteve and @teapothope that's ok ?

    Hello and welcome aboard
  4. From your description of how your current set up runs you may be at the limit of your current turbo ,it sounds ideal as is ,boosting down at 3000rpm, perfect for a street bike, and your reed valve idea is superb, but I wonder how it will cope with an extra 20/25% capacity. Do you have a turbo reconditioning shop that could advise on a hybrid turbo build? It might be that different Garrett parts maybe suitable . On a separate point, don't forget that the 1127 motor is taller (and a spacer plate will add a bit more) than your 750 based engine, so your plumbing may need tweeking to suit
  5. Congratulations, that is a beautiful creation , wonderful that we still have people who can craft something as gorgeous as that
  6. @IhmeJanneFIN reading your question regarding the compression height of the pistons and spacers , I think the gen 2 pistons would require less of a spacer as you say, but many on here have or claim 250+ hp with std rods, what would the cost of gen 2 pistons +new rings ( y / n / ?) + maxspeeding rods +spacer plate be vs 1216 mtc 10:1 turbo pistons ? How do you think your turbo would be with that compression ?
  7. Thing is the torque will probably be instantaneous ( big twist and go ) and if your not bothered about revving the thing to the moon it may well be just what you want , if it's to restricted at higher rpm look for another turbo in the same family with bigger wheels,
  8. Ooh will this possibly reside in your fabulous gsxf ......I do hope so it would be an utterly bonkers sleeper
  9. Agree used to knock about with a guy with high 90k+ miles on his b12 ran good apart from a puff of smoke from the valve stem seals, agency driver at work had a 600 showed 80 odd when the speedo went on strike carried on running it ,looked like it ha been on the titanic ran sweet,
  10. Timeless pic, that could have been taken anytime in the last 40 years,so nice to see a stock-ish one with a couple of period mods, beautiful bike
  11. Nice bike ,welcome to OSS, when are you going to fit the turbo......
  12. I have read ,and can't say for sure as I've not personally seen them, that the yoshi cams are drilled through the lobes to increase oiling to the rocker pads , anyone know if this is correct ? @wraith has the links sussed as far as I know
  13. @wraithif it jetted properly and not lean then I don't see any difference between the engines, lower compression in the b12 aside plus plenty run ign advance as well so why not quiet it down if you want
  14. The amount sounds relatively small,if you think you've only got a few thou piston to wall clearance, then it's got to get past the three sets of rings, again it's thousands of an inch gaps, its not going to hydrolock like a leaky fuel tap and float valve would after a week or two.... But any fluid looks worse than it probably is think of how far a pot of tea goes if you knock one over , just my opinion
  15. Yes quite possible if it's been upside down for oil to permeate past the pistons and rings ,the rings actually only seal properly when the engine is running, combustion gasses push down past the piston crown, into the ring lands and push the rings out towards the cylinder wall to create a better seal If it were mine and I knew it had no issues previously I would run it making sure it sounded good till it was good and hot once I'd cleaned the oil off the exhaust system, don't want it burning on
  16. It's a problem getting a decent length fork, most stuff less than 30 years old tends to be too short unless you want the slammed drag bike look, maybe it's time to wander round a friendly dealers with a tape measure looking at the adventure bikes....
  17. Thanks for the clarification I looked at the fork data sheet in the vault and they're listed at 43, knew it would be too good to be true if they were 43 and could be extended with b12 tubes
  18. The 600 srad forks are also 43mm and shorter than the b12 forks does anyone know if it's practical to build the srad forks with b12 stanchions, if so it would be a good adj fork, decent length for air cooled Suzuki's
  19. Yes I would say so too, but i thought OP wanted adjustability but I may have misunderstood that bit ,talking about gsxr forks etc..
  20. If your not adverse to mixing brands what about zzr 1100 forks,I believe ( though stand to be corrected)they are 43mm ,thinking bandit yokes, and reasonably long,or rwu zx9r ....should be multi adjustable

    1100EF crank

If you've got a petrol strimmer I reckon you've a plan to turbo it definitely seeing a pattern here.....
  22. Don't know about the paint stripper application but I know when I used to collect from industrial printers they used it as a cleaning solution so if it dissolves plastics as well just be fearsome stuff
  23. Well there probably is a (all be it limited) market for them,it seems many older bikes are being restored or restomodded and obviously a lack of original exhausts and air boxes create that need plus how many dyno operators are used to carbs these days most bikes have had fi for 15+ years and if they do know how to make them work many would how many would pay 2 or 3 times the price of a kit ? I know I've used and been happy with dj kits in the past
  24. There's a name from the past,Leon Moss' ledar kits were great back in the 80's hard to get a bit 4 to run pod filters back then without one of his kits, seem to remember him doing articles for performance bike magazine ( I think it was PB). Great loss so much knowledge, I read that he worked for brm formula 1 team way back,
