  1. If the combustion chamber volume is close then I think it'll be a case of bolting it together, with a used head gasket, time the cams and turn it over with plastercine on the pistons squish maybe an issue depending on the size of piston dome Vs how small the chamber is in comparison it maybe the pistons dome hits the head if it's bigger than the chamber rather than valve interference whichever way you'll be leading from the front!!
  2. Have you got any old (or new) head gaskets 1 for a 600/750 longstroke and 1 for a 11/1200/750 short stroke , if so lay one on top or the other to find out if the studs and oil ways align,if so what sizes do the combust chamber measure are they similar.if not try using a 1200 bandit head on the s/stroke bottom end to lower the compression ready for a turbo.... kidding
  3. Thanks @yantosh just scanned through you pics, you've built a great bike man, those yokes and fork brace are really cool pieces, and the fit and finish looks great Damn missed the engine case on first look through...
  4. Damn that looks nice with the katana fairing, what's the seat ? Ducati monster ? Nice choice of baby blue too
  5. Happy days mate, I'm sure that you'll want the extra because it's bound to feel a bit slow after your turbo bikes.....till it gets one of its own......
  6. I think the issue with helical gears is they have a tendency to push apart under extreme loads, this can cause early bearing failure amongst other issues . In many competition cars straight cut gearboxes are a common upgrade one downside is that straight cut gears can be noisier than helical Clive beat me to it ya too cool for skool Clive.....
  7. Hi Clive a quick Google search on some mainly American gsxr sites, some seem to like the 600 or 750 intake cams in the exhaust side as a cheap high lift/longer duration cam upgrade claiming "3-6 hp up top" if you've got a cheap cam and have the top apart to do shims it might be worth it but I don't know if it's worth it for 3 hp otherwise ....
  8. Agree but it's pretty much the same engine and apart from the 88/89 teapots I think many 90's models shared the same 32 BST carbs, mk2 bandits and baboons arse teapots may vary possibly BSR with tps sensors like the 1200 bandit, but dyno jet kit is available for all I believe if that's the way stanman wishes to go
  9. I have seen the oil lines on a hardly rideable purged by bumping it on the starter but that's a roller bearing bottom end but hey more than one way to skin a cat
  10. @clivegto maybe able to help you out (he's building a 10/4 ) but it's a bit too new for this section
  11. Well you seem confident, and I understand that there is a residual oil film so to a degree I realise that with no load it should be ok ,hell I've had junky old cars that have had next to no oil pressure at idle and had the oil light flicker at low idle speeds but I never cared about them
  12. Seriously? No oil pressure to the crank or cams ? I understand that there is no load but there would be metal to metal contact , how long does it take to build oil pressure sufficiently to protect the bearings ? Not say what you do is wrong but it's not something I would do
  13. Couldn't really say what size jet you would need , dynojet offer a kit that includes jets and needles to suit pod filters not everyone is a fan of these kits and will tell you every engine needs tuning individually but every factory bike is jetted the same and I've used a kit on my old 1200 bandit an tbh it ran mighty fine
  14. Didn't know there was anything in between any except wider bearing output on late (m)gsxr and bandit ,which also has slightly thicker liners however I wait to learn if there is more
  15. Your going to have to port it to some extent (beyond port matching the intakes) if you have bigger valves fitted ,if you don't open up and blend the bowls into the seats then you'll never see the potential of the bigger valves ( a set of valves from kibblewhite or ferrea is close to £800 ) or your investment
  16. Sounds great especially if you fit some cams to make use of the extra flow(you are having it gasflowed aren't you ?) and bigger carbs
  17. Yeah I know but maybe he's lurking about , just think it's a hell of a sleeper if it's all tucked away in the stock fairings. That's before the bored and stroked 750 must be something in the water over there.....
  18. Never mind maybe the grumpy looking bugger photo bombing your shot will make ya a cuppa when you get back
  19. @IhmeJanneFIN anymore updates on this fabulously bonkers bike please
  20. If you go to oldskoolsuzuki.info on the top bar of the screen and click on it and then when transferred onto the vault and scroll down there is a chart showing calipers that interchange, the gsxf calipers are different mount to gsxr 750/1100, not sure about rg 500's hope this helps the stuff in the vault is interesting and valuable resource
  21. If you click on oldskoolsuzuki.info at the top of this page ,then when you are transferred click on the vault there is a list of swappable calipers (type 1) hth
  22. Thank you for the information, especially about the valve springs
  23. Bang on, what I was on about in my 1st post, and @wraith said in his,it's a 35 year old classic bike tweak it, fettle it but accept it for what is so great about them. Others have developed theirs into fantastic carbon clad lightweight missiles but does Metralla want to go that route doesn't seem it to me
  24. As for porting etc try Roger Upperton in Leeds been tuning bikes forever, semi retired now I believe roger@uppertonracing.com but until you ask etc
