  1. The main issue with dot heads and a 1216 kit is more to do with an acceptable compression ratio, most big bore kits raise the compression to 12 or 13 to1 with the std 1200 head so the smaller combustion chamber of the dot heads pushes it way to high for road use and I would also be wary of piston to valve clearance with the pop up dome on pistons and shallower chambers bringing the valves lower in relation to the cylinder block deck
  2. To the best of my knowledge : f,g,h, l,m, not dot j,k dot gsxf = teapot 600/750 only earlier 750 shortstroke dot head dot head 750 has bigger valves than long stroke 750 - short stroke+bigger bore have more room for valves than long stroke small bore Not sure if exactly same size as 11/1200 but not far off 28.3 inlet/25 exhaust yes the head has a steeper port angle approx 15° which makes the important "short turn" bottom port wall turn into the chamber less acute and better flowing yes the 88/89 j/k gsxr head is the best of the stock heads - but only because they have the best cams chamber size is one of many things which determine compression, but you are looking at +1 to +1.5 increase in compression the dot head chamber is approx 4cc +/- smaller than the bandit 12 so look at 9.5 to 10.5/11:1 this is to the best of my knowledge and I stand to be corrected
  3. Best using a magnet on a stick pick up tool to remove the shim if you got one to save your fingers ...
  4. Well that looks a smart bit of kit. welcome to OSS
  5. Glad you sorted it and thanks for letting us know
  6. I know it's not exactly what you're on about with the anti-lag tech, but I remember that @IhmeJanneFIN runs a couple of reed valves in his plenum that shut off under boost but allows the motor to breathe at sub boost levels would this help in your scenario ? Please tell me if I've got it wrong as I'm here to learn !
  7. have a stellar ( or do I mean Stella ) time guys
  8. As was said before you will need to adapt bandit or teapot ones that use the engine mounts
  9. No I wouldn't I'm a wagon driver and some so called professional drivers couldn't find their arse with both hands , anyway hope you and the guys have a great time
  10. aye you'll not miss that big fuck off chicken shed .....

    Ignition cover

I would ask permission to use the OSS logo first as it maybe registered . If it is ok for you to use it ,then : milled aluminium, for a logo it would need to be cnc How about engraving, if you don't have a friendly machinist with a milling machine then take it to a trophy shop to be engraved, if you're patient and have a steady hand you can do it by hand , Or painted/sticker logo's . vinyl wrappers can take a digital image and transfer it to vinyl ( not sure how the vinyl would deal with the heat though ) Acid etching where you paint on a masking agent and then an acid wash or two to erode the unmasked metal Similarly sand blast etching, probably more ideas out there but those spring to mind

    Ignition cover

Looks good ,and gives the option to personalise it , OSS logo ,engine capacity , etc without permanently altering the main bit of the cover
  13. Do long stroke 600/750 cams fit the 1100 heads ?* Are the cams noticeably "hotter" ? Is it possible to run an intake cam on the exhaust as happens on the gsxr1000s ? Is it worthwhile ? * The short stroke 750 ones I know will fit 11/1200 tappet heads.
  14. Just musing this shim spitting (or not) issue , i was wondering if engines fitted with "uprated" cams are the ones that are prone to losing a shim maybe because of more aggressive (faster) opening and closing ramps causing a loss of contact between follower and shim ?
  15. Having read the article you posted I have to ask : if they built an 1186 motor specifically to drag race why would they not set the valve springs pressure to suit the expected rpm limits of the motor,to ensure it didn't float the valves ? why didn't it have a rev limiter set so it didn't over rev , soft cut limiter aren't new if you haven't read @Oilyspannermy route to oily happiness thread in projects his 1216 M sounds close to what you want and maybe worth the time to read it you haven't already seen it
  16. +1 on @Dezza, having had 25+ bikes including singles, twins,a triple, and inline 4cyl if you're coming from harley cruiser type bikes(I've had a harley too) then a gsxr will be a culture shock especially the comparitive lack of low down torque so a bigger bike as Dezza says will probably suit you better for the road rather than a frenetic tuned 750, try to blag a ride on a bandit 1200 or similar to see if it suits you better , not got the image of a gsxr but nice to ride rather than look at ......no smutty remarks at the back
  17. Meant to add to above post
  18. Is it one of those "myths" that grew on the internet ?, maybe back in the day from production racers ,even from the 750m which obviously rev higher or the early gsx600f which also had shims for the first year of two I believe, like when Whitham was racing them.
  19. Missing hose, won't run with fuel tap set to on or res,but runs when set to pre (or is it pri ?) I'm going guess that it's a vacuum hose that operates the fuel tap. There should be either a hose from the tap that's not connected or a spigot on the tap with no hose if it's missing or a hose from the carbs that it's not connected to anything, Google some images of the carbs in situ rather than parts diagrams they maybe more helpful
  20. "Gettin lapped is better than not racing at all" You're out there doing it ! I reckon one make ,zero(ish) mods race series are the hardest closest racing out there and it's still your first season, experience will bring better results I'm sure . Easy for us armchair expert's but how do you think you are loosing the places you make at the start? Concentrating on the "right" track position and not defending the place in the corner? . Anyway thanks for the update always look forward to them

The other thing is if it's not up to spec then you may get stranded at the side of the road, if you're lucky ,if not you may watch your pride and joy smoulder and not in a sexy way... If you do it yourself do some homework and ask the questions,
