  1. If the diaphragm on the tap is shot and seat of the needle valve is worn or the needle valve O ring is shot the fuel will work its way past while the bike is on its sidestand.
  2. Right it's me again I have what I think is a G 86 1100 fairing and I have a chance of buying an 750H mirror brace and fairing/light mounting assembl. Does that mean it won't work? Any guidance welcome.
  3. Happy Birthday. Don't get cake icing on your valve stems.
  4. My Last OSS do attended this year was 254 miles one way - 500 miles round trip. The one before that was 259 miles one way 500 miles round trip. The first one I ever attended was 235 miles one way. Even the Scottish ones we organised were 75miles one way 150 miles round trip. This one for you is 154 miles one way 300 miles round trip. That's what I class as local pal.
  5. Yes I'm convinced if you go fast enough for long enough your head will simply flip back like a PEZ dispenser and fruit flavoured sweets will come out of your neck rattling off car windscreens behind you. So far I've managed to avoid this but my luck might run out one day.
  6. I think Donington was a great place to have an annual event anyway but if we were to do a separate stand alone event then more than anything, I would want there to be sense that it was an OSS event. To achieve that you need exclusivity of the venue. Not sharing it with others. To have that you need sufficient numbers. To have sufficient numbers you need to cater to a wide spectrum of interests and encourage as many people as possible. The venue needs to be central so that nobody has to do more than 300ish miles to get there. It needs to have a big car park to hold the daytime competitions and house a mobile dyno. We also need to a have a merchandise stand. The venue needs to be able to do breakfast lunch and evening meals for those that are far from home or forgotten their piece box and flask or ate their piece on the way. It needs to have a function room that can house us all at night for a band or discotheque ( is that how you say it these days?) It needs to have some descent roads around for and OSS ride out for those that are interested. I think we should have some stupid fun stuff too like like a live build from random parts or a smash the H*nda competition. The venue needs to be able to house us all day if the weather turns. We'll probably do the round house for the first time in a few years , next year anyway but it's max 30-40 which always sells out. If we do a Northern Englandish do with all of the above it would be more likely to attract a larger number than if we just did a piss up. ( theoretically) Like I say Donington's good because there is plenty to do through the day and then everyone can assemble assemble at night. Exhibitor camping is a bit cramped for a big do though and if it rains your stuffed. The factor that you need to consider in the UK on a What if basis, is the weather.
  7. Standard cases can ground when you are cornering The air cooled race bikes I've looked at often have a heavy chamfer welded into the lower half of ignition and alternator covers to improve ground clearance. You could have heavy billet machined and welded as reinforcement but the weak point will always be the bosses on the crankcases.
  8. With an air cooled engine you need to get your body between the engine and the track. It doesn't matter with an oil cooled engine.
  9. Nice colour scheme. Looks good. Exhaust craft have a nice system for the GS
  10. That sounds like something For the SOSS to assemble for.
  11. its wide face ( total body width 13") but is but its only 10 rows. I ran a 13 row before but it was the narrower body width (8.25 ") The cooling surface area was probably on a par with what I have now. What width of cooler were you considering?
  12. 10 or 13 should be easily big enough. They can be run without. I run mine with a 1230 kit on a 10.
  13. Gav I have OEM friction plates and steels in mine and it never slips. 1230 and RS 36s. Pulls like a train with no issues.
  14. I prefer to wait until people have bought, painted and then fitted parts before I say I don't like them.
  15. If we build it they will come.......... Seriously though, my view is that different people want different things from an event. If we do an event we need to try to cater for a broad church of expectations. Some people want to meet up for the social side some people expect some sort of bike orientated activity like a dyno shoot outs or a prize giving. My take on it is that we should be aiming for an event that has: A dyno for a horsepower shoot out.( that will satisfy the horsepower junkies)A social event in the evening.( that will satisfy the party people)A bike of the year prize giving and some other fun give-aways/prizes.( that will give the show pony owners motivation to polish their tyres)We should let the press know and hope for some magazine coverage ( that will motivate the media whores)Build a bike in a weekend from parts donated.Maybe a wee OSS ride out for those that like that sort of thing ( that ought to allow those that came with their bike in a van to get some riding in)All in all we only really need one event per year and we should make it as varied and inclusive as possible. Focusing on the piss up bit only wont attract everyone. From here on in OSS events will be OSS events not privately organised events under an OSS banner.
  16. Voice over man taking a day off from action movie trailers to do a Suzuki corporate video.
  17. Stupid question Jelle but why upgrade the forks then keep the 19 inch snowflake? You will have to make adapter plates for a mudguard unless the front end was deigned for a 19" wheel. Getting the callipers mounted will also be tricky. You will also still have a limited range of tyres. A complete bandit front end and wheels should be very straight forward or a complete ZXR front end And wheels like Deeds has on his.
  18. They all used the same snowflake wheels.
  19. @Kid Kearsley send me your pics and words and we can publish your post event findings on the front page. Good luck!
  20. There have always been Kawazukis on OSS. I personally like to see "Kawazuki" on the tank.
  21. Could have been worse Andrew they might have asked the same on your dress sense.
  22. 36s would work best on the 1170. 34s work and you would probably get away with 38s but 36s are optimum IMHO
  23. Top job Dave. I had a a great time. The icing on the cake was the 3 laps we got of the track on the Sunday. As I passed a guy on a VF400 wearing Freddie Spencer leathers I thought what a sado. I later learned that was Freddie Spencer. Doh! At least I never forced a legend onto the grass though...
