  1. you can take the complete airbox off and it won't make the idle hang, it can effect the running though.
  2. when you balance carbs you are aligning all the butterfly valves up so it shouldn't effect the balancing, inazuma 750/1200 carbs are 32mm.
  3. i didn't pay owt when i did the B12 but it was about 10 years ago !!!!!
  4. i bought a second hand 1200 bandit that was registered new on the IOM when i lived over their, when i came back to the UK i had to go through the registration process with the DVLA. came back with an age related plate. took a while though
  5. very satisfying when you figure out a problem
  6. you will need to measure the length of your forks from the top to the spindle centre then compare it to the GSXR forks , the later 600/750 forks are a bit on the short side compared to the older RWU forks, the bike might look like its doing a nose dive !!!! it would steer quicker but could be unstable at high speeds. the slingshot forks are good for the older bikes if you can find a good set ?????
  7. not sure about your bike Sam but generally you do 1 to 2 then 3 to 4 and then 1and2 to 3and4
  8. they are much better readings. did you do them with a warm engine ?
  9. what about taking the stem to a machine shop and see if they can cut the excess off and rethread and machine the bearing surface ? it might be an option if you cant find a stem
  10. i wouldn't be happy with the compression test figures !!!! anything below 100psi is not good !!! they sould be done with a warm engine so it might be worth letting it rev for a while and re'doing the test and with full open throttle.
  11. yeah might work but sometimes the welding can distort it !!!! i think it would be safer to get another stem for piece of mind.
  12. i bought a gsxr1100 bottom yoke from Germany and when it turned up i could see the weld half way down the shaft, it looked strong enough but it wasn't straight !!! luckily i didn't need the shaft as i put a bandit one in.
  13. a GSXR slingshot will fit the bandit lower yoke and using the bandit bearings, you might have to modify the lock stops though. this is my 750ET with a B12 front end
  14. will a shorter spacer not sort it or will the sprocket bolts on the carrier hit the swinger ? whats the chain alignment like ?
  15. the hole in the calliper hanger can easily be bored out to 20mm if it isn't already 20mm. but looking at the pic of the calliper and hanger they look to long for the smaller disc you have ? if you want the calliper on top then maybe a bandit hanger and a GS 500 calliper might be the way to go as they have the calliper on top.
  16. to tell you the truth ive always been happy with a standard B12 engine but with a good can on. i wouldn't mind a touch more and better fuel consumption but its not on my importance list, im not a speed freak i just like the grunt, what is important though is a bike that looks the dogs danglies, handles pretty good and stops. im a bit of a poser and like it when people look at the bike, and i even go past shop windows so i can see how it looks when im on it yeah i know im a sad fucker
  17. this is where the bandit and inazuma (and others) make life a piece of piss to get an engine in and out
  18. yeah thats true, i think a 1200 bandit engine in a naked bike is plenty, they are good for 140mph but who at nearly 60 can handle that speed without a fairing ? i know i can't. but having the low/mid range grunt is great
  19. big thanks to duckndive for sorting me out with a set of clocks, thanks bud
  20. two 6mm bolts at the top of the front airbox, once they are removed the airbox will drop out of the way it might help taking the two chrome end covers off as well.
  21. have you undone the front airbox bolts ? once they are off the front part of the airbox will move back enough to pull the carbs out.
