Rene EFE Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 I know thos ones with a fairing are EFE and those without EF and those with half are ESE (or something along those lines) but are the frames also different? More specific.; does the frame for an unfaired model have the lugs to mount a fairing? Quote
clivegto Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 My E has not got any but the frame was powder coated when I got it so may be it did in a earlier life. Quote
Blubber Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 i was wondering about that when i sought a EF frame.. since i wanted mine to have a fairing. Because of that i searched the internet and found that most of the naked EF's with a recoated frame no longer had them. All nakeds with the part worn paint still sport them. I concluded most of them are de-lugged for a sleeker appearance before a refresh. i think the main difference between a (half)faired or a naked lies in what brackets the factory used ( 11 or 5 ) Above is my conclusion, so there is a chance a grown up will corrected me and prove me wrong. 1 Quote
no class Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 the ones I had were all equipped with lugs.....they had some sort of plastic plug pushed in the threaded portion ......that being the ....full faired / half faired and naked . Quote
Dorkburger Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 (edited) I've had a US market E and currently an ES. The E had fairing mount lugs with plastic caps stuck in the hole as no class noted. My thinking is that they are all the same. As Blubber noted about the brackets, my half faired bike mounts do not have provisions to mount the belly (lower) fairing. Rene EFE Posted December 14, 2017 Author Posted December 14, 2017 Good, that saves me some work. Thanks all Quote
Sheep Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 4 hours ago, no class said: the ones I had were all equipped with lugs.....they had some sort of plastic plug pushed in the threaded portion ......that being the ....full faired / half faired and naked . Yep,same here...My 'e' had them, once, along with the plastic bungs too...I might even have a couple still kicking about. Quote
Captain Chaos Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 As said all the lugs and mounting points etc are the same. BUT the naked version has the steering lock on the side of the headstock, faired versions don't. 1 Quote
homer Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Mine was originally full faired and it has a steering lock on the side of the headstock Quote
Captain Chaos Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 My (originally faired) one does not have it. My mate's naked one does. Now my little brain is confused. Quote
homer Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 There must be a difference between model years. Quote
