richyrich Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Loses oil to a point. But not all the oil, cos the sprocket and gear shaft is higher than sump i suppose. It smells hot and im not comfortable with it. Can i ignore this or will it Get worse. Really dont wanna take the motor out again. Can i change a seal with it where it is? Quote
no class Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 easy fix.....remove sprocket and bushing......pop the old seal out...clean the area good......put a new one in . make sure you put it in straight .....gentle taps until fully seated . big socket works great if you don't have a seal driver . 3 Quote
Danm54 Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Leave it and save money on chain lube, regular top ups mean no oil changes as well right? 3 Quote
bluedog59 Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Fix it, it's not going to get any better. 1 Quote
dupersunc Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 (edited) Polish up the sprocket spacer while your at it, so the new seal doesn't get ripped to shreds first time you run the bike. Edited July 18, 2017 by dupersunc 2 Quote
jonny1bump Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Saves servicing, as you got to keep topping oil up. Quote
vizman Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 on the plus side, it can sound like a supercharger whine when you wind it on in 3rd 1 Quote
Fatmama Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 Old Suzukis don't leak, they use oil to mark their territory ;-) 2 Quote
CockneyRick Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 How about the gear selector fork seal? Can this be changed without a case split? Quote
