clivegto Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 Mad rush sort of over with work so should have some time for this again. Done a lot of head scratching & no way is the 1000k9 back wheel going to fit the JMC swinging arm as I want it to have the same wheel base as a standard magnum 2 but with drag slots to extend the wheel base as well. Bit the bullet & got the grinder out tonight. 2 Quote

clivegto Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Hacksawd the arm in 1/2 at the pivot tube tonight. Need a 13mm spacer making up & welding in then re-weld the brace back in. Sort the top shock mount out on the top brace. Get drag slots made get them welded in, may use stepped drag slots, we will see. Braced will be at least 75mm forward of where they were. Pics are just a mock up. 3 Quote
Gammaboy Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Might aswell lop the unused shock mounts off the brace while it's in bits... 2 Quote

Gammaboy Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 Might even wind up straighter than when it was new! 2 Quote
clivegto Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 I got the sub frame with the seat unit when I bought it. Started to mod that tonight with my angle grinder to fit the harris frame. Lots more to at it yet but had to do the mock up to se how it looked. 2 Quote
clivegto Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Cut the other side down & fitted the inbetween bits. Doing it this way gives me most of the mounting points for the seat & stuff as well as access to battery which will be in the seat unit. 3 Quote
Swiss Toni Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 It's coming along nicely. But, I don't think I'd have the bottle to cut the arm up though! 1 Quote
Fula28 Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Always break a few eggs eah Clive! Looks really promising, keep it up chief loving the idea with the arm. 2 Quote
clivegto Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 (edited) Been to see my mate gsxrsam. He made a spacor to widen the swinging arm. Also took 7mm of each side of the swinging arm. Edited September 27, 2017 by clivegto 6 Quote

clivegto Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 @Gsxrsamyou could say that or you could say he was causing havoc as normal. Got the sub frame welded, it's now secure to the rest of the frame. Have a harris battery box & one for under the tank that came with the bike. Think I like the look of it better with the passenger seat on. 4 Quote
clivegto Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Picked up a front mudguard for £10 at Ruforth auto jumble today & some ally for the swinging arm shock mount. 1 Quote
clivegto Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 That's interesting, went to bolt the dummy motor into the frame tight & the fins on the right hand side of the lump touch the frame. On further investigation the back bottom engine mounts has 2mm difrance but these are countersunk so should have been the right way round. Origanly the frame had a Z motor in & it's last heart was a gsxr 750. Took all the mounts of & swapped the back ones round motor now sits central, will have to alter the other engine mounts. Quote
clivegto Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 Thinking about stuff on the plus side this moves the front sprocket over 2mm as well which is a good thing. 1 Quote
clivegto Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Got some harris rear sets from a early r1 for reasonable mony. Thought they might fit without the back plates but no such luck they will need one of back plates. 2 Quote
busa ash Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 great too see you at stafford , keep up the good work 1 Quote
clivegto Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 Top back engine mount did not fit properly with moving the engine over a bit so have made one out of ally. Just need to get it welded up. 5 Quote
