Pasis
Hello! I am engaged in the development of a billet block for GSXR 1100W. The block will be used in the turbo engine, with a piston diameter of 77mm. I want to make liquid-cooled cylinder block. I think how to better to make channels for cooling? Someone have any photos of old big block for a liquid-cooled 1100W with water cooling? Quote Link to comment
Gixer1460
Got no experience of water cooled blocks but would have thought your best solution is to increase water 'jacket' around the liners prior to fitting them. That and decent water distribution rather than in one end and out the other! Quote Link to comment
kja.busa
Sperbike Mike used to sell a big block for the water cooled 1100, should be some photo's around the tinternet, might be worth a bit of research Quote Link to comment

I found a few, but to all the photos, hard to see the channels. Probably will have to do wet sleeves. Quote Link to comment
Gixer1460
'wet sleeves' thats the phrase I was looking for ! LOL Quote Link to comment
Pasis
Here such block is obtained. Soon we will begin to do it. 3 Quote Link to comment

Reinhoud
Impressive! What's the max diameter sleeves / pistons in a stock cylinder block off that engine? 1 Quote Link to comment
badgerkdd
Wow, that is impressive! ' Love the smell of cooling fluid in the morning ' 2 Quote Link to comment
Pasis
Thanks guys ! We continue to do. Pistons will be 77mm, turbo mtc. We did 1192 N\A with 79.5mm pistons on the standard block. Motorcycle riding is great, but I have 2 times head gasket is blown. I decided that with the turbo, this block will not work well. Only for low boost pressure. 2 Quote Link to comment

More than 77mm it is not desirable to bore. 1 Quote Link to comment

New block looks mint - how are the water channels connected to allow flow once the liners are installed? Should enjoy turbo boost with this one. Quote Link to comment

In that block (1192) had been installed, the over size sleeves, of course! The thickness of the sleeves was about 2 mm. Now the bike being done at 99% for drag racing. Quote Link to comment
Pasis
Block finished. It remains to install sleeves. 8 Quote Link to comment

snoorder
OK, so when can we expect mass production? ;-) 1 Quote Link to comment

If there is demand, we will think it over to do batch of blocks. First, I want him to try on my new engine, and check everything. 1 Quote Link to comment

But on the other hand, if you could manufacture such a block for the oilcooled models there might be an even bigger market for it. Quote Link to comment
Pasis
I'll think about it. For the oil cooled engine can find the new and used blocks fairly easily. Quote Link to comment

Agreed but your are then limited in bore size - 81mm. Most want to go larger - 84 / 85 and 86mm and for that it needs a billet block. Quote Link to comment
Pasis
I have seen on ebey sold new cast big blocks in the UK. Also in the UK makes excellent billet big blocks. Quote Link to comment
